Nigeria’s iconic musician, Onyeka Onwenu, has died after slumping at a birthday party in Lagos.
An online newspaper, TheNiche, Reported this morning, July 31, that Onwenu slumped at the birthday party of Stella Okoli last night at Reddington Hospital in Lagos State.
The musician featured in a number of Nigerian movies.
Onyeka Onwenu was born on 31 January 1952.
She was a broadcaster,
songwriter, actress, human rights and social activist, journalist, politician. Dubbed the “Elegant Stallion” by the Nigerian press, she was a former chairperson of the Imo State Council for Arts and Culture. In 2013 she was appointed the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Women Development.
