Buhari Floors 72 Others As INEC Declares Him Winner Of Presidential Poll

President Muhammadu Buhari has sent 72 other presidential candidates, including his main challenger, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the cleaner, the electoral umpire, as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him winner of the Saturday, February 23 Presidential poll across Nigeria.

The INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, who officially declared the winner in the early hours of today, Wednesday, said that President Buhari, candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), polled 15,191,847 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Atiku Abubakar, who polled PDP 11,262,978 votes.

The INEC boss said that President Buhari,won in 19 of the nation’s 36 States while. Atiku won in 17 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Buhari, whose first four year tenure will expire on May 29, will commence his second and final tenure of another four years from that day.

Meanwhile, the opposition PDP had earlier rejected the result as they were being announced from each state of the federation.
