Nigeria Crashes Out Of Women’s World Cup, Loses 4-2 To England On Penalties

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have crashed out of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup competition in a 4-2 penalty shootouts with England.
In the game played today, August 7, the Super Falcons put up a gallant fight, dominating the play for most part of the game.
Ashleigh Plumptre had hit the cross bar earlier on, even as England struggled to create any clear cut chance with their best player, Lauren James finding it difficult to get on the ball.
Lauren was sent off late in the second half after stamping on Michelle Alozie.
The game went into extra-time when both teams failed to hit target after 90 minutes of thrilling action.
The European champions were pinned back in the extra time.
Alozie and Asisat Oshoala both came close to breaking the deadlock for Nigeria but could penetrate.
England went on to win 4-2 in the penalties.
