Abuja Witnesses ‘Strange’ December Rain

Rainfall

Many parts of the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory (FCT) witnessed what can be described as strange heavy downpour in the wee hours of today, Wednesday.

The heavy rain, accompanied by strong wind, lightening and thunderstorm,  started around 1.40am and did not subside until 2.10am.

The unusually heavy rain woke up many people from sleep in Kuje, one of the six Area Councils of the FCT.

Though experts are yet to explain the effect of the rain in December, especially in a place like Abuja which witnessed the last rain in 2017 in the early September, it was feared that Nigeria may witness drought next year as a result of the early cessation of rain this year, leading to many crops wilting and dying off.
