“Let me use this occasion to reiterate that government is determined to, more than ever before, deal decisively with any threat to security of this nation from any quarters.”
These were the words of President Muhammadu Buhari at the commissioning of a 75- kilometer road in Wanke, Gusau local government area of Zamfara State on Wednesday.
The President, who was in the state on a one day working visit, had earlier commissioned a 20- kilometer road in Tsafe local government area of the state.
Speaking in Wanke, Buhari said that his government’s commitment to secure the country has already started yielding results. This was even as the state governor disclosed that for the first time since Boko Haram insurgency began in the northeast seven years ago, the people of Borno State celebrated the Eid-el-Fitri with ease, devoid of any security barricades.
President Buhari announced that the nation’s security situation has been improving, “not only in the north east, but all over the country. We are confident that our macro economic policies as well as the monetary policies being implemented by the CBN will lead to the revitalization of the industries and steady growth in significant sectors of the economy.”
Buhari said that the change agenda of his government is a central issue of All Progressives Congress (APC) electioneering campaign in 2015 and that as Nigerians have agreed to work with him as agents of change, the challenge before all Nigerians now is to translate the change into reality. [myad]
