Katsina State House of Assembly sacked its speaker, Alhaji Aliyu Muduru and Chief Whip, Alhaji Bishir Mamman Dutsin-ma.
A member of the Assembly, representing Katsina Constituency and Majority Leader, Alhaji Hanbali Faruk, moved the motion for the impeachment, and was seconded by Alhaji Abubakar, a member representing Funtua Constituency, at the plenary session today, Wednesday.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that 23 out of the 34 members voted in favour of the impeachment and removal of the speaker, after which Alhaji Yahya Abubakar from Kusada Constituency was quickly elected as new Speaker. The new speaker was sworn-in immediately.
Also, Alhaji Nasir Yahaya, representing Daura constituency, was picked as new Chief Whip.
No reason was given to the sacking of the two principal officers of the House of Assembly. [myad]
