The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction, led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi, has described the court-recognized national chairman of the party, Alhaji Ali Modu Sheriff as a leader of renegades of the party.
Makarfi called on the members of the party to therefore disregard what he called ‘self-appointed members of the Modu Sheriff renegade group’which he said is illegal, null and void. He added that any meeting the renegades called should be disregarded by all loyal supporters and members of the PDP.
In a statement today, Monday in Abuja by the spokesperson, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, the factional leader called on members of the party not to attend any meeting put together by Senator Ali Modu Sheriff
Makarfi described Modu Sheriff and his group as interlopers and impostors, adding that the mobilization being undertaking by the party’s National Working Committee of the party under Sheriff is “illegal, null and void.
He called on members of the party in the South-East, where the campaign started on Monday, to disregard such meetings or gathering, advising Sheriff and his team to stop acting on behalf of the party until the Supreme Court determines the authentic leader of the party.
“The National Caretaker Committee led by Makarfi has appealed the Judgment of the February 17, 2017 at the Supreme Court and in the eyes of the law, until the Appeal is set aside by the Supreme Court, the National Caretaker Committee remains in charge of the affairs of the PDP.
“So, Senator Sheriff and his co travelers have no power to call for any meeting of Party members or supervise the affairs of the PDP forthwith.
“We therefore want to further call on Senator Ali Modu Sheriff to stop parading himself as the National Chairman of the PDP.
