Police in Delta are now hunting for a Pentecostal pastor, whose name was given simply as Jessiah over the mysterious death of a church member, Ejiofor Ujah. The incidence happened in Ugbolu community near Asaba, Delta State.
A report by The Leadership said that the Pastor had invited the deceased for a prayer session but that it was his corpse that was discovered two days after.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Andrew Aniamaka, confirmed the incident, saying that the victim’s corpse was found by a hunter in a soak-away few metres away from the church.
According to the police spokesman, the Pastor and two other suspects had fled the community, adding that two persons have been arrested and are being detained in connection with the incident. He said that investigation is ongoing with a view to arresting the fleeing suspects.
Meanwhile, the wife of the deceased, Rosemary Ujah, told a Leadership reporter: “I was confused when I did not find my husband in the church two days after and I raised the alarm after reporting to the police at Ugbolu Police Division and a search party conducted which discovered his corps in soak away.”
Members of the church were said to have deserted it. [myad]
