Eighty nine prisoners are said to have disappeared from the open prison HMP Ford, near Arundel in Sussex, the United Kingdom.

Reports by the security agents said that the prisoners are on the run and that one of the run-away prisoners, Simon Rhodes-Butler, a convicted armed robber has been re-arrested. He is among 24 inmates of HMP Ford that police have returned to custody in recent weeks, which leaves 89 still on the run.

“I want to reassure people that we recognised some time ago that our processes needed improving,” Superintendent Lawrence Hobbs, of Sussex Police said. [myad]
