23 Year Old Man Faces Death Penalty For Allegedly Stabbing Father To Death

A 23-year-old man, Rasheed Shitta, is facing death penalty at the Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly stabbing his 73 year old father to death.

The Magistrate, Adeola Adedayo, who is hearing the case, has ordered that Shitta be remanded in Ikoyi Prisons and that the case file should be sent to the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.

The Magistrate then adjourned the case to April 24.

Shitta, who resides at No. 23, Dada St., Majidun in Ikorodu, near Lagos, is facing a charge of murder. His plea was not taken.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Inspector of Police, Chinalu Uwadione, told the court that Shitta committed the offence on April 14 at 1.00 a.m. at Oriokuta, Imota community in Ikorodu.

The police officer said that the defendant stabbed his father, Muda Shitta to death with a knife while he was asleep.

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes the provisions of Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 223 stipulates death penalty for offenders.

A’Ibom University Vows To Expel 4 Students For Allegedly Raping Female Student

Governor Udom Emmanue of Akwa Ibom state

The Management of Akwa Ibom University has vowed that it would expell four undergraduates for their alleged involvement in the rape of a female student of the institution at Obio Akpa campus in Oruk-Anam Local Government Area.

The Head of Directorate of Information, Public Relations and Protocol of the University, Akaninyene Ibanga, who spoke to newsmen today, Friday in Oruk-Anam, said that the University management would expel the students based on the outcome of police investigations on the matter.

He said that the police could not exonerate them because the victim had obtained a medical report to support their investigations.

“The students were first suspended by the university authorities as normal procedure to allow them attend police interviews as part of investigations to establish their level of involvement in the crime.

“There is no way the police will exonerate them because the victim had obtained a medical report to back up police findings.

“Once the police concludes their investigations and sends the report,  the university would expel them,” Ibanga said.

“The alleged prepatrators are Akpan Matthew, Essien Fidelis, Bassey Joseph and  Bassey Columbus.

“Kindly be informed that the Vice -Chancellor of Akwa Ibom University has taken appropriate disciplinary measures against the four students,  who were recently involved in an alleged rape case and caused embarrassment to the University community.”

He said that the Vice Chancellor had directed the Registrar and Secretary of Senate, Mr John Udo, to issue letters to the four culprits on April 8.

He said the University had received a security report on March 23, to the effect that four male students allegedly raped and caused severe bodily harm to a female student of the Department of Performing Arts and Mass Communication.

According to him, the suspension letters were issued in line with the University rules and regulations as enshrined in the Student Information handbook.

He said the Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of the Senate, had directed that the studentship of the culprits be suspended indefinitely, for gross misconduct which constitutes a breach of the matriculation oath with effect from the date the letters were written.

Inflation May Make Nonsense Of N30,000 Minimum Wage – Senator Abu Ibrahim

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Employment, Labour and Productivity, Senator Abu Ibrahim, from Katsina South, has said that inflation and rise in prices of goods and commodities across the country may soon welcome the N30,000 new minimum wage which President Muhammadu Buhari brought into operation yesterday, Thursday, by signing a bill on it into law.

Senator Abu Ibrahim, who answered reporters’ questions today, Friday after the Jum’at (Friday) prayer at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja, stressed that rise in prices of goods and commodities in the markets across the country at the mention of increase in workers’ wages is no longer news.
“That is why we always advise against clamour for increase in wages, because we all know the implications.”

Senator Abu said that in preparing for the N30,000 minimum wage, the Senate had made provision for increment in the federal allocation of funds to state governments to augment their income so as to be able to implement the minimum wage.
He is confident that if all the recommendations in the report that formed the new minimum wage were implemented, State governments and other employers of labour of above 25 employees, would be able to conveniently pay the workers the new wage.

The Senator commended President Muhammadu Buhari for promptly responding to the yearning of the Nigerian workers by moving fast to assent to the minimum wage bill, adding that by so doing, he had gone a step ahead of those who would have used it to promote political agenda.

A 42-year-old woman, Mrs. Uchenna Okeigbo has been delivered of five set of babies (quintuplets), three boys and two girls, at Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Lokoja, Kogi State,  after 18 years of barrenness.

A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) who visited the woman and her babies at the hospital today, Friday reports that both mother, an indigene of Olokoro Amangbo Community, Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia, and the babies are in good condition. The babies were delivered on April 17 through a Caesarean Section.

Speaking with NAN, the woman expressed gratitude to God for the rare gift of five babies, saying that her wait for 18 years did not end in vain.

“It is not easy to have five children at once,” Okeigbo said.

She showered praises on her husband for standing by her.

NAN further reports that the quintuplets, three boys and two girls, weighed 1.3kg 1.6kg, 1.7kg, 1.8kg and 1.9kg, respectively.

However, the first baby, who weighed 1.3kg was still inside the incubator as at the time of NAN visit.

The father of the quintuplets, 47 years old James Okeigbo, an employee of a private establishment, described the coming of the babies as the happiest moment in his life and his wife as well.

”I thank my wife for retaining her respect for me for this 18 years of childlessness without quarreling with me. I am also grateful to her family for standing by us,” Okeigbo said.

He, however, solicited for assistance from government and members of the public to ensure adequate care for the five children.

“As a good citizen of Nigeria, I am appealing to government to help us,” he said.

Dr Grace Ogoke, Consultant, Obstetrician and Gynecologist at FMC, Lokoja, who handled the delivery of the quintuplets, said she was very happy and gave glory to God for the feat.

She told NAN that she delivered the babies on Wednesday April 17, through a Caesarean Section (CS) at about, 11:45 pm, which coincidentally was her own wedding anniversary day.

”They are three boys and two girls, and they weighed 1.3kg, 1.6kg, 1.7kg, 1.8kg and 1.9kg, respectively. The three boys came first and the one that first came out has the least weight of 1.3kg.

” The baby is put under observation inside an incubator because he weighs less than 1.5 kg but the baby is active,” Ogoke explained.

According to her, the couple approached the FMC when they were seeking for the fruit of the womb with lots of investigations.

”After going through all their investigations, I saw that they would need to be assisted, that spontaneous pregnancy medically speaking might not be achievable, and I advised them to be assisted.

” The procedure for the assisted reproductive technology through In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) was successful, and the doctor referred them back to her for management of the pregnancy.

”I feel very happy and I give glory to God for seeing us through, because it was like all of us are pregnant during the pregnancy.

”This is my first time of taking delivery of quintuplets, the highest I have taken was three.

‘It is a relief and achievement for all of us and I thank God for that,” Ogoke said.

The Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, Dr Olatunde Alabi, said that exprienced gyneacologists and padsetricians were deployed to manage the woman from pregnancy to delivery.

Alabi said it was the first time quintuplets will be delivered at the hospital, saying that the management of the pregnancy and successful delivery of the babies underscored the quality of staff at the hospital and their dedication to duty.

The Chief Medical Director , however, pleaded for more support for the centre from the government and corporate organisations, especially in the areas of equipment and funding.

Ex Ogun Governor, Gbenga Daniel Faults Nigeria’s Democracy

Otumba Gbenga Daniel

Former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has faulted the kind of democracy being practised in Nigeria which he said as a system that cannot bring about the best in all spheres of the national interest.

Speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the 2nd Annual Lecture of a media outfit, Freedom Online, at the Alvan Ikoku Hall, Radisson Blu, Ikeja yesterday, Thursday, Daniel lamented that Nigeria is still operating a system that has been in practice since 1960 without a change which, he said cannot bring about any meaningful development.

According to him, no nation can thrive on a static ideology, especially in this modern age with its attendant global evolution in all indices of development.

“That is why our democratic system has to be reviewed by way of restructuring or else it will give more room for constitutional crisis, inequity, mediocrity, injustice and corruption.

“With the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the dropping of the Iron Curtain, the doors were closed against Communism and Socialism as political ideologies opening a new vista in the socio-political economy of the respective countries which paid off as their economies rose tremendously. Even China has joined the fray and is now about the biggest economy in the world.

“What I am saying in essence is that if we continue to practise democracy without a drastic change, it cannot work. It will only make people poorer and hopeless. This is why the progressive minded politicians like myself and political pundits are clamouring for restructuring which will address the challenges facing us as a nation and proffer meaningful solutions for the betterment of the people.”

Speaking on his retirement from partisan politics, the former Ogun State chief executive said that it is better to leave the stage early enough for the younger generation to come up with fresh ideas and  contribute their own quota towards developing the nation instead of the older ones sitting tight and counting years which most African leaders have been accused.

He said that his bold step seemed not to be taken kindly by his people, who insisted that he should not go into retirement soon.

The Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, who was represented by Akin Oyebode (Jnr.) delivered the lecture titled; Fixing The Economy,  Less Politics More Substance which had former Governor of Abia State and Senator-elect Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu as the Chairman.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, was the Guest of Honour while a University don, Professor Akin Onigbinde delivered the keynote address.

Dignitaries at the event which was hosted by the publisher of Freedom Online, Mr. Gabriel Akinadewo included the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland,  Oloye Gani Adams; former Minister of Special Duties, retired Navy Captain  Caleb Olubolade;  Mr. Dotun Oladipo and Nollywood actor, Bolaji Amusan among others.

Nollywood Director, Ifeanyi Onyeabor, Dies While Filming In Jos

Director of the Nigeria movie, known as Nollywood, Ifeanyi Onyeabor, is dead. He was said to have died today, Friday died while filming in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

The President of the Actor Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, confirmed his death in a Nollywood WhatsApp group called Film4Life. His body has been transferred to a morgue.

Ifeanyi Onyeabor is best remembered for his critically acclaimed ghetto movie, New Jerusalem, which earned him several nominations and a win at the Africa Movie Academy Award (AMAA).

He also made news when he was locked in a battle over co-production disagreements. He  was alleged to have collected a total sum of N8.8 million from Steve-James Nigeria Limited in December 2008 for the purpose of producing two movies titled Young Amazon and Tribes.

He was charged to court in 2011 by the Economic and Finacial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and remanded in Ikoyi prison.

The filmmaker was later released and the matter settled out of court.

Speaking later about the incident, James said: “I blame the problem on breakdown of communication between us. I was new in the industry and naturally reacted the way someone would react when third parties come to say you’re about to lose your investment.

“Luckily after everything, I discovered that Ifeanyi, actually meant well, and his lawyer and my lawyer sat down and agreed to withdraw the matter from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.”

Senate Indicts Muslim Hajj Commission Over Extortion, Fee Hike

Abdullahi Muktari

The Senator Adamu Aliero led ad hoc committee on the plight of Nigerians on hajj pilgrimages to Saudi Arabia, has indicted the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) over what was considered as “extortion of Monies from Nigerian Pilgrims by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria.”

The Senate, at the plenary yesterday, Thursday, looked at the report of the Ad Hoc Committee which considered the issues of accommodation, logistics, feeding and others such as Onshore and Offshore of the Nigerian Pilgrims and accused NAHCON of corruption and breaching laws in its operations.

Senator Adamu Aliero presented the report as members were asked to study it ahead of its adoption next week Tuesday.

The Senate had on July 20, 2017, resolved to conduct the probe following the adoption of a motion moved by Senator Ibrahim Dambaba, titled, ‘Extortion of Monies from Nigerian Pilgrims by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria.

In the report, a copy of which our correspondent obtained, the committee listed several irregularities in the operations of NAHCON as well as infringements of the Constitution and the Act establishing the commission.

The report read in party: “The committee has observed that the commission’s procurement processes on the annual hajj operations were marred by many contraventions and infractions as it flagrantly breached the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria, the Public Procurement Act 2007, and the Federal Government’s Financial Rule and Regulations in the conduct of its role as mere regulator of hajj operations.

“Similarly, it was also observed that under the normal circumstances, Saudi Arabian authorities recognise two institutions as far as hajj is concerned: the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the (Nigerian) Civil Aviation Authority. The Foreign Affairs Ministry’s recognition was based on the international laws under the Vienna Convention on Consular Matters. The role of hajj commission is limited to national issues.

“However, NAHCON has usurped the responsibilities of these agencies and deals directly with Saudi Arabian authorities without recourse to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In fact, the committee has realised that the Nigerian Consular General in Saudi Arabia has been turned into an employee of NAHCON. This explains why there is a conflict of interest in almost all the offshore transactions engaged by NAHCON.”

The committee also accused NAHCON of “over bloated charges,” onshore and offshore, saying, “The charges escalate the cost of pilgrimage.

“For instance in 2017, offshore charges such as Administrative Fee, Hajj Development Levy, Yellow Card and registration forms paid to NAHCON by the 75,000 Nigerian pilgrims that went through the States Pilgrim Welfare Board amounted to N712,500,000. Also, SPWBs charged administrative and other charges which amounted to N1, 474,875,000.”

NAHCON was further accused of short-changing and extorting Nigerian pilgrims, intending air carriers, and service providers “through spurious charges without regards to the Second Schedule of the Utilities and Charge Commission, in its quest to generate revenue, hiding under Section 11(1)(a) of NAHCON Act 2006.

“Similarly, the so-called revenues realised by the commission were not paid into the Consolidated Revenue Fund, contrary to Section 80(1) of the 1999 Constitution. This action by the commission also negates the principle of Treasury Single Account because the said revenue from 2014 to 2017 was kept in the commission’s account without recourse to TSA.

“Just as in the same manner,  the commission generates its revenues with total disregard to extant Acts, so it expends them without following the provisions of the Constitution.

“Similarly, NAHCON often goes on spending spree from the said generated revenue, quite beyond the approval threshold of the Accounting Officer, which is a breach of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation’s circular with reference number SGF/OP/S.3/XI/894, dated 14th January, 2016.”

Chief Imam of Ebira For 55 Years, Musa Galadima, Dies At 98, Buries In Okene

The oldest Islamic cleric and Chief Imam of Ebiraland in Kogi State, Sheikh Musa Galadima Abdullah is dead. He died today, Friday, April 19, in a private hospital in Abuja Abuja after a protracted illness at the age of 98.

Imam was buried also today at his residence in Agasa, Okene with thousands of his disciples and numerous Muslims in and around Ebira land attending his burial.

He is survived by wives, children and many grandchildren.

Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has sent a condolence message in which he described the death of Imam Musa Galadima as painful.

In a statement in Lokoja, the state capital, the governor said that the late Chief Imam was a humble, gentle and serious Islamic teacher whose tutelage extended beyond Nigeria.

“The late Chief Imam was God fearing, honest, disciplined, and obedient to the constituted authority especially the traditional institution.”

The governor urged other Islamic clerics to emulate the life led by the deceased even as he condoled with the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Alhaji Dr. Ado Ibrahim, the deceased wives, children, relatives, friends, followers and the entire Muslim community.

He prayed to Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased and make Aljannat Firdaus his final resting place.

The deceased Chief Imam granted Ebira Reporters an exclusive interview sometime ago where he spoke about himself and  how Islam started in Ebiraland, as well as the challenges  at its nursing stage and the circumstances that led to his Imamship. We reproduced the content of the interview unedited thus:

Background

I am Musa Abdullahi Galadima, my father’s name is Abdullahi while Galadima is my middle name. I was named Galadima by my Alfa (Islamic teacher) Sheikh Yahaya Tajudeen from a village called Ilajafila in Ilorin, Kwara state. Galadima literally means successor.

I was born in Okene during the time of war in Obangede (1921). I was not opportune to have Western education at early stage because I started with Islamic education. I registered myself for Western education in the evening class when I was a teenager. The school was located in Okeneba then headed by a white man (European) where we were thought “Best Way to English” a book that afforded us to read and write when we were done with it. Few days we started, the white man came to our class and asked who could spell the word KNEE, I stood up and pronounced K-N-E-E as the spelling of the word (didn’t I spell it correctly? Laughs)  I went back to Islamic school after learning how to read and write.

With my outstanding performance, the head of the school (a European man) wanted to take me to London for further studies but I rejected the offer because I was still young then and wanted to acquire more Islamic knowledge which I believed I would not be able to get if I accepted the offer.

My occupation is trading, I had traded bicycle and later ventured into garri business, plying the route of Auchi to buy garri which I would sell in Ebiraland. I later delved into motorcycle business, and later car business. The first car (Toyota) I bought from Lokoja was at the cost of N1,500, the second one (Peugeot) at the cost of N 3,000, and the third one (Toyota Pick Up Van) at the cost of N6,000. I ended up with cow business.

How did you acquire your Islamic knowledge?

I was given to Sheikh Yahaya Tajudeen, the first Islamic teacher in Ebiraland from Ilorin, Kwara State. I stayed with him till I built my own house and learnt every bit of Islamic knowledge from him.

As the Chief Imam of Ebira, can you tell us how Islam started in Ebiraland, the challenges and the progress made so far?

My Alfa narrated to me that my father (Abdullahi) dreamt and saw two Islamic scholars. He went in search of them and in the cause of his search, he travelled to Kabba where he  met my Alfa, Sheikh Yahaya Tajudeen who later agreed to follow my father to Ebiraland on a horse and subsequently became the first Islamic scholar who guided people to islam and impacting Islamic knowledge to the few muslims in Ebira then.

Alfa Abdulsalam who also came from Ilorin became the first Imam of Ebiraland.  His daughter was later married by Abdulmalik Attah who gave birth to Late Seidat Bilkis.

The first challenge encountered was between the traditional festivals who often complained and even threatened Mulsims for revealing the long held tradition of Ebira masquerade to women through Islamic teaching.

Another challenge encountered at the early stage of Islam in Ebiraland was during the time of face-off between the then king of Ebiraland, HRH Alhaji Ibrahim Onoruoiza Attah and his brother Wokili. In the heat of the face-off, Attah was  given a house arrest by the colonial administration because of an allegation leveled against him. The first Imam of Ebirland (Alfa Abdusalam)  saw this as an aberration and a move that is against the doctrine of Islam which preaches respect for establishee authority and negotiation in terms of conflict.

The Imam left Ebiraland and his departure created a void for Islam that is still fresh in the hearts of the people. Nobody to lead the prayer and all Islamic activities was brought to a halt in Ebirland.  The status of Ebira Muslims then was nothing short of an orphan. It reached a level that the traditional worshipers will pass through our mosque just to mock us, and call us names. It was a devastating moment for Ebira Muslims.

During this time of trial, my father voluntarily gave out ram to be slaughtered and offered prayer for the return of Attah and the commencement of Islamic activities. I was among those that fetched water used to perform ablution that day. The colonial administration later found the allegation to be false, Attah was freed and his return ushered the awakening of Islamic activities.

Sheikh Yahaya Tajudeen (first Islamic teacher) was made temporary Imam to fill the void created by the departure of Alfa Abdulsalam. Mallam Ganiu was later made the chief Imam. He reigned for seven years, after his demise, Mall. Suleiman became the third Imam and the first Ebira man to occupy the position. Imam Suleiman also lasted for seven years, and my Alfa, Sheikh Yahaya Tajudeen was later made the chief Imam and died after five years. This is how my Alfa held the position of Imam twice.

How did you become the Chief Imam of Ebiraland?

Following the death of my Alfa who happened to be the last Imam, I was called to become the chief Imam, I rejected the offer, it took the effort of Alhaji Abdulmalik Attah who was in London then before I accepted the call. I was 58years old then, married with five kids. Since then, I had led Ebira Muslims to Hajj for 28times (28years).

Can you tell us the roles you played in ensuring peaceful co-existence amongst Muslims and other religious faithfuls in Ebiraland?

I have said this several times and I will continue to say it till I die that the Tijaniya muslim should not insult those that are not Tijaniya. Everybody should be doing what he believes without compelling or insulting others that have contrary opinion.

It has always been part of my preachings that Muslim should not insult the Christians in their preachings (Imam quotes Quranic verse to support his statement); although we’ve not really recorded any serious problem between Ebira Muslims and the Christians in the land. The only major religious problem which I had intervened serverally is between the traditional worshipers with their masquerades and the Muslims in Ebirland.

What advice do you have for Muslims in Ebiraland?

Ebira Muslim and other religious faithfuls should live peacefully with one another, tolerate the excesses of others for peaceful co-existence. I will also use this opportunity to advise Ebira sons and daughters to accept the decree of Allah and be patient with our son, the Governor of Kogi State while supporting him with prayers to succeed.

Thanks for coming, may Allah bless you all and make your life’s pursuits beneficial, and grant you all righteous spouses.

Buhari Insists He’s More Qualified Than Atiku, Asks Him To Produce His Certificates,

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that he is far more qualified to contest the recently concluded Presidential election than the Presidential candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, even as he challenged Atiku to produce and tender his educational certificates, indicating the schools he attended with dates.

In the filing by a team of lawyers led by Wole Olanipekun (SAN), Buhari debunked Atiku’s and PDP’s claim that he was not qualified to run for President, adding that on the contrary, it was Atiku that is not qualified to run for the office.

The challenge was one of the planks of Buhari’s response to Abubakar’s petition at the Presidential Election Tribunal

Buhari said he did not, “at any time, provide any false information in Form CF00] submitted to the lst respondent, either in 2014 or 2018.

“The affidavit of compliance to the 2019 Form CF001 was correct in every material particular.

“In filling Form CF001 in 2014 and 2019, respondent was not oblivious of the constitutional qualifications stipulated in Section 131 of the Constitution and interpreted in Section 318 of the same Constitution.

“Petitioners themselves are also not oblivious of the fact that respondent possesses far more than the constitutional threshold expected for a candidate contesting for the office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“The respondent avers that he is far more qualified, both constitutionally and educationally, to contest and occupy the office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria than the 1st petitioner (Atiku); and that in terms of educational qualifications, trainings and courses attended, both within and outside Nigeria, he is head and shoulder above the 1st petitioner in terms of acquisition of knowledge, certificates, laurels, medals and experience.

“Respondent states further that it is the 1st petitioner, who is not qualified to contest the office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and challenges the educational credentials and certificates of the 1st petitioner.

“1st petitioner is hereby given notice to produce and tender his educational certificates, indicating the schools attended by him, with dates.”

The President gave his educational resume as: “Elementary School, Daura and Maid’adua (1948 – 1952), Middle School, Katsina (1953-1956, Katsina Provincial Secondary School (now Government College, Katsina (1956-1961).”

Buhari faulted the entire petition filed by the PDP and Atiku, noting that they are more about pre-election issues, which the Court of Appeal, sitting as a tribunal lacked jurisdiction.

He also argued that the petitioners told lies against themselves in the petition and made conflicting claims which the tribunal cannot grant.

Buhari noted that while the petitioners claimed to have won the last presidential election and also won elections in many states in the Southsouth and Southeastern part of the country, they also urged the court to nullify the election and order a fresh presidential election.

Buhari argued that by virtue of Section of 137of the Electoral Act, petitioners cannot question the results of elections in states where they claim to have won and still retain themselves as petitioners.

Buhari faulted the petitioners’ claim that the election was marred by corrupt practices and substantial non-compliance with the Electoral Act.

The President also faulted the petitioners’ claim that they won the election, insisting that, by the result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), he and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), won the last presidential election election.

He asked the tribunal to dismiss the petition on the grounds that the reliefs the petitioners sought by the petitioners are frivolous.

“The entire reliefs are not justifiable, as the petitioners, who claim to have scored majority of lawful votes in substantial number of states, are also questioning their own return in those states.

“The petitioners cannot act as petitioners and respondents in the same petition.

“The alternative relief sought is self-defeating, apart from being frivolous.

“The election to the office of President on 23rd February, 2019, was conducted in substantial compliance with the provision of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended),” he said.

Buhari, challenged the petitioners to produce “specifics of website: www.factsdontlien .com, including its domain owner, proprietor, lessee, lessor, etc., pleaded in paragraph 29 of the petition.

“Details of the electronic data on the servers of the 1st respondent (Inec), including the time, the details were downloaded, the person who downloaded them and the means of downloading (paragraph 29 of the petition).”

My People Pressurized Me To Go For Second Term, Kogi Gov Declares

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has formally declared his intention to contest for another term in office on the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor, who made the declaration when inaugurated the board of the State House of Assembly Service Commission at Banquet hall Government House, Lokoja yesterday, said that his declaration came after consultations with the leadership of his party both at the national and state levels.

He added that the pressure from the people of the state on him to seek re-election as well as the official release of the State’s Election time table by INEC also necessitated his decision to re-contest.

“I would like to inform the good people of the state, the APC family and supporters from the state, the Local Government Areas (LGAs) down to the wards and polling units, as well as various stakeholders, opinion molders, families and friends of my interest to run for a second term in office as the Executive Governor of the state.

”I have sought the blessing of the Almighty God and our good people; I will have to contest for the second term so that we can build on our modest achievements so far in the state by taking it to the next level.”

It would be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has slated the governorship election in the state for November 2.
