Governors Pray For Buhari’s Second Term, Praise Him For Being Fair To All Of Them

President Buhari meets with 36 State Governors in State House on 14th Dec 2018

Governors of 36 States of Nigeria have offered prayer for the return of Present Muhammadu Buhari for second term in the 2019 election.
The governors, who attended a special session of the National Economic Council (NEC) today, Friday praises the Present for not discriminating against any of them irrespective of party affiliation.
Speaking to news men shortly after the meeting, chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), Abdulaziz Yari said: “we came here today to thank Mr. President because in bailing out states he did not discriminate along party lines unlike in those days when you can only get audience with Mr. President if you have long leg before the issue will be raised with Minister of Finance.
“He knew that Nigerians were going to be beneficiaries of the bail out not governors. We believe without this mindset, it would have been difficult for us to govern.
“So we appreciate what he has done and we prayed for him that he will succeed to return for a second term.”
Governor Yari said that the governors came together today to rounded up the last economic council of the year, adding that they had an extended NEC to deliberate on the key issues of the economy, human capital development with focus on health and nutrition, education and workforce.
“Many issues were discussed and points were raised on the way forward because it’s not all about discussing but to also have implementation plan on ground.
“Since all the speakers spoke on health and nutrition, education and workforce, the issue of funding must be discussed as well because it is critical in the implementation plan.
“So we resolved that in the first quarter of 2019, even though it is an election year, we will not shy away from carrying out our responsibility of taking care of the interest of the next generation.
“We intend to discuss on our new way of generating revenue so that human capital development can be financed with these new sources of revenue. At our next NEC meeting, this will be discussed, digested and explained to the general public.”
On the meeting with President Buhari, Governor Yari of Zamfara State recalled so many issues that have been raised since 2015, especially on budget support, bailout fund, Paris London Club refund and infrastructure development funds.
“When Mr. President came on board, 27 states out of 36 could not pay salaries some for 13, 12, 8, 5 months respectively. Our first encounter with him, he told us that we have no business of being in power if we cannot do the basic, that is pay workers.
“So he asked that we discussed how we can support those states that cannot pay salaries so that workers will be paid. Those in the position then came up with the idea of bailing out the states so that they can pay the arrears.
“But paying the arrears was not enough because the performance of the economy at that time could not sustain the current salaries, that was how he paid the London Paris Club in batches until we exited last month. The payment of London Paris Club has been lingering for the past 12 years.”

Ngeria Had For Long Governed Under False Pretenses- Ex Head Of Service

Former SGF, Yayale Ahmed,

Former Head Of the Nigerian Civil Service under the  government of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ahmed Yayale has confessed that the country had for long being governed under false pretenses.
Yayale, who spoke when he led his National Network for Community and Youth Development on a visit to Present Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, said:  “for so long this country has been govern under false pretenses.
“In our quest to make sure that Nigeria wakes up, we come and submit ourselves that we will rather persevere with temporary pains of following the path of truth rather than enjoying the comfort of deceit and falsehood in perpetuity.
“This is why at this point in time, we freely submit ourselves to the wonderful strides that you represent in this country: integrity and commitment to improve the quality of lives of Nigerians.
“This we did without being apologetic to anybody because we in Nigeria, if we did not come together to face the reality of adjusting the false life, and I can tell you I have been in government for quite sometimes but really, what we use to do must give way to the reality of our situation.
“In doing that we are bound to suffer, but the suffering for bringing integrity in this country is better, that is why the intellectuals here from the universities on their own, cooperating with the honorable members and partnering with our Christians brothers and sisters all over the country, we are determined to see that this country is changed for the better.
“The internalization of good things of life do not come with ease. That is why I said, this, country having gone through this rough path, we are a country in a hurry, people forget the past easily because sometimes they may not have known the past.
“Anybody who does not know the past will enjoy and dance for today, thereby, perpetually giving up his future. But we will not allow this to go on because we are Nigerians we must come together and do the correct thing. Even if it is one, two or three things that we continually do correct, we will definitely entrench a change in the system.
“We give you the necessary support because we know that you are a man of integrity, we know that you have insisted on doing things right in governance.”
Yayale assured the Present fifty percent of the members of the group are committed to seeing that the right thing is done and that Buhari returns to lower for second term in the 2019 election.

Nigeria Still Suffering From Effects Of Rushed Government Policies – Buhari

President Buhari receives in Courtesy visit Newly Inaugurated National Executives of Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) in State House on 13th Dec 2018

President Muhammadu Buhari has regretted that Nigeria is still suffering from the effects of many legacy of government policies that were rushed and passed without fully appreciating the consequences the provisions embedded in them.

The President, who agreed that the Petroleum Industry will unlock numerous untapped potentials for the nation, cautioned that such reforms must be well thought out and must have the best interest of Nigeria and Nigerians as its core objective.

“Such reforms cannot and must not be rushed if we must get it right. We are still suffering from the effects of many legacy policies that were rushed and passed without fully appreciating the consequences the provisions embedded in them.

President Buhari, who spoke today, Thursday, at an audience with the National Executive Council members of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, said: “whatever decision we take now will impact either negatively or positively on generations to come.

“The Petroleum Industry Bill was conceived to ensure Nigeria’s future generations are positively impacted by its oil wealth. It was never about short-term gains. I want to assure you that dialogue on the Petroleum Industry Bill is still ongoing. At the end, we will have a bill that the nation will be proud of.”

Buhari admitted that the Public Private Partnership approach which his government adopted to rehabilitate the existing refineries has taken longer than expected, but assured that the NNPC has concluded the process for selecting the private sector partners that will rehabilitate the refineries.

“I am informed that they are working out finances and hopefully, work will commence soon.

“However, we will continue to support innovative ideas that will bring new refinery investments into the country. In this respect, I look forward to receiving suggestions from your members on how we can move forward.

“As one of the architects of the Nigeria Contents Monitoring and Development Act, I am sure NUPENG members appreciate that a key principle of this act is the indigenisation of certain processes and production functions. Indigenisation means local value addition leveraging local resources where possible.

“The Act specified minimum local content requirements, including manpower, for all projects and contracts in the oil and gas industry. The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board is fully empowered to ensure compliance. I will direct the Hon. Minister of State Petroleum Resources to review the issues you have raised and take appropriate action to ensure compliance with the Act by operators in the industry.”

Buhari advised NUPENG executive to submit any specific petition to the Minister of State with the assurance that such will be looked into diligently.

He assured them that his government is working hard to make the business environment easier and friendlier for investors, both local and international. “It is, therefore, our collective duty to provide constructive guidance to enhance operations of investors in the oil and gas sector. Therefore in drafting any petition, I would ask that your submissions are supported with facts.”

The President noted that that pipeline vandalism has declined in the Niger Delta region, assuring that his government will continue to promote peaceful engagement with the communities while at the same time maintain the government readiness to respond to any hostile acts of sabotage.

He assured that his government will not relent on its drive to create an inclusive, diversified and peaceful Nigeria.

US Congress Asks Google CEO: Why Trump Images Appear While Searching For Idiot?

Google CEO Sundar Pichai

The United States Congress has subjected the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Google, Sundar Pichai, why the photos of President Donald Trump do appear anytime someone searches for the word “Idiot.”

Defending the position before the House Judiciary Committee, Sundar Pichai explained that the company doesn’t “manually intervene” in search results, and instead search results are based on crawling the content of web pages.

“We provide search today for any time you type in a keyword. We, as Google, have gone out and crawled and stored copies of billions of their pages in our index, and we take the keyword and match it against the pages and rank them based on over 200 signals,” Pichai said.

“Things like relevance, freshness, popularity, how other people are using it. And based on that, you know, at any given time, we try to find the best results for that query,” he added.

The House committee held the hearing to discuss whether Google’s search results are politically slanted. Shortly before Pichai’s explanation, which was prompted by a question from Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas) had claimed to have “irrefutable” evidence that Google was suppressing conservative search results.

For the record, that “idiot” search result page was due to third-parties’ “Google bombing” the president. Something similar was done to President George W. Bush. In the mid-2000s, Bush’s photo showed up whenever you searched for “miserable failure,”
