Authorities of the Polytechnic Academic Staff Secondary School in Kebbi State have sacked five teachers for allegedly impregnating an SS3 student of the school. Report has it that the school also expelled the impregnated student from the school.
Sources confirmed that the decision to dismiss the five teachers followed the recommendation of a committee set up by the school to investigate the matter.
“The committee submitted report on Monday and recommended that all the five teachers should be dismissed from service immediately. The management has dismissed the teachers and the victim was also expelled from the school.
“When the committee interrogated each of the teachers, they confessed that they have been having sexual relationship with the victim separately, so, they were sacked immediately based on the committee’s recommendations”, the source added.
NAN gathered that the affected teachers had forwarded an appeal against their dismissal to the school’s management board.
The Principal of the school, Malam Muhammed Mahuta was said to be in hospital for weeks before the incident, but his Vice, Malam Oumar Woulandakoye confirmed the development, adding that the affected teachers had filed an appeal against their dismissal.
”I will advise that you should wait till the final report of the School Board, because I just received their memo now that they are going to sit on the matter tomorrow.”
The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bolaji Abdullahi has confirmed that the party is aware of a group who have purportedly described themselves as a faction of the party
Bolaji, who spoke to news men today, Wednesday in reaction to the breakaway of the members of the former new Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) to form reformed APC (rAPC), said that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party will speak again on the next steps for the APC.
“We have report of a group of who have puportedly described themselves as a faction of our party.
“We will be able to give our reaction as soon as we get the full details and have the opportunity to review it.”
The New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), which broke away from the then ruling PDP to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2015 general elections has again formed what it called Reformed APC (rAPC), complaining that the party breeched the agreement they had before the elections.
The group, which today, Wednesday, announced that it is to be called the Reformed All Progressives Congress (rAPC), has Engineer Buba Galadima as Chairman.
Speaking at a press conference today in Abuja, Buba Galadima, who was flanked by Alhaji Abubakar Baraje and other newly appointed executives of rAPC, said that efforts to have the ruling party listen to them fell on deaf ears.
“I stand here before you as the Chairman of the reformed APC to remind you that preparatory to 2015, the nPDP merged with APC to wrestle power, but the content of that agreement were breached.
“The APC in the last three years has performed poorly and refused to sustain its core values.
“The APC government was a monumental disaster even worse than the government it replaced.”
The reformed APC condemned the just concluded national Congress of APC, saying that very soon it will be subjected to what he called protracted legal crisis.
“The APC conducted the worst national Congress so far and it is likely that the outcome of judicial decision on the Congress would further lead to protracted crisis.
“There were crisis in four states. The National Congress Committee Chairman and governor of Jigawa state, Alhaji Abubakar Badaru declared 18 seats unopposed contrary to the Constitution of APC,” it stated.

PRESS CONFERENCE ADDRESSED BY ALHAJI BUBA GALADIMA, NATIONAL CHAIRMAN, REFORMED – ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (R-APC) AT SHERATON HOTELS ABUJA ON 4TH JULY, 2018
We are here assembled to address you on the state of our party, the APC, the state of the nation and the future of our experiment in constitutional democracy, in Nigeria.
You will recall that in the build up to the 2015 General elections, some political parties and groups came together, and formed a brand new political party, the All Progressives Congress, APC. This merger was based on the strong belief that Nigeria had come of age, but was severely underperforming and unable to meet its potentials for good governance. The Nigerian people entrusted power to the APC based on its promises and potentials.
We are sad to report that after more than three years of governance, our hopes have been betrayed, our expectations completely dashed. The APC has run a rudderless, inept and incompetent government that has failed to deliver good governance to the Nigerian people. It has rather imposed dictatorship, impunity, abuse of power, complete abdication of constitutional and statutory responsibilities, infidelity to the rule of law and constitutionalism. It has failed to ensure the security and welfare of our people and elevated nepotism to unacceptable height. The APC has failed to deliver on its key promises to the nation. There is no evidence of any political will to reverse the decline of our party, while leaders who have created these circumstances continue to behave as if Nigerians owe our party votes as a matter of right.
The APC government, has been a monumental disaster, even worse than the government it replaced. The political party that was a vehicle for enthroning the government was rendered powerless by manipulations and complete lack of due process in its operations.
The last straw, was the Congresses and Convention of the APC held recently. The Congresses were intensely disputed as it was conducted with impunity, total disregard for due process, disregard for the party Constitution and naked display of power and practices that have no place in a party we all worked the very hard to put in place.
There are countless cases in courts all over the country challenging the legality of congresses and even the National Convention itself. It is very likely that the judicial decisions on these cases will result in massive chaos, confusion and uncertainties. The fate of a party in this state with a few months to the elections is best left to the imagination, but it is not a fate we believe our millions of members should be abandoned to. There were parallel congresses in 24 States namely: Abia, Adamawa, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Enugu, Imo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Niger, Ondo, Oyo, Rivers, Sokoto and Zamfara.
These congresses in Wards, Local Government Areas and States all over the federation produced different sets of delegates. We therefore had an unfortunate situation where the party has been seriously factionalised and divided in not just 24 States but the 36 States and Abuja FCT.
The so-called National Convention of the APC was even worse. The National Convention of the party was ridiculed with constitutional infirmities that were so glaring and obvious that no fair minded person can claim that a legitimate and lawful executive emerged from that process. The Chairman of the organising Committee, Jigawa State Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, declared 18 seats unopposed and uncontested, since only one valid candidate stood at the end of the grossly manipulated nomination exercise for each of the offices. He therefore proceeded to declare them duly elected in flagrant abuse and violence to the Constitution of the APC.
Indeed, Article 20 of the APC Constitution is very clear and explicit. It envisages a situation where if at the close of nomination, only one person is nominated, the Convention must vote “Yes” or “No”, for each candidate before he is declared duly elected. For the avoidance of doubt, let us re-produce the article verbatim:
Article 20 (1) of the APC Constitution states “Unless otherwise provided for: All party posts prescribed or implied by this Constitution shall be filled by democratically conducted elections at the respective National Convention or Congress subject, where possible, to consensus, Provided that where a Candidate has emerged by consensus for an elective position, a vote of “Yes” or “No” by ballot or voice shall be called, to ensure that it was not an imposition which could breed discontent and crisis”.
We all witnessed on live television and at the venue, Eagles Square Abuja, that the Convention Chairman, only put the “Yes” question to all the delegates, using words to the effect: Do you affirm? Do you agree? There was no opportunity whatsoever given to the delegates to say whether they are voting “No” for any candidate as the “No” question was never put to them.
It may well be that it the convention Chairman put the “No” Question, the voice vote for the “Noes”, may have been more. We will never know, since it was never done, contrary to the express provisions of the APC Constitution. It is therefore unquestionably clear that the 18 officers of APC that was “Elected” through this process could not have been duly elected. This constitutional vice infected the offices of:
Comrade Adams Oshiomhole – National Chairman 2. Mai Mala Buni – National Secretary 3. Alhaji Ibrahim Masari – National Welfare Secretary 4. Tunde Bello – National Financial Secretary 5. Babatunde Ogala – National Legal Adviser 6. Bankole Oluwajana – National Vice Chairman (South West) 7. Dr. Zakari Mohammed – Zonal Secretary (North Central) 8. Abubakar Sadiq – Zonal Secretary (North East) 9. Hassana Abdullahi – Zonal Woman Leader (North Central) 10. Nelson Abba – Ex-officio (North-Central) 11. Isa Azare – Ex-officio (North-East) 12. Didi – Representative of the physically challenged and others.
Even before these illegal exercises that have alienated millions of members, there has been widespread disenchantment with the manner the party has been run, and the conduct and performance of our governments. The nPDP, a group that has made a major contribution to the emergence of the APC administration has made strenuous efforts to invite attention to inequities, injustice and poor management in our party without any success. The nPDP had shown good faith and commitment to the party, but it has been rewarded with indifference and even contempt. It is obvious that the leadership of the APC has decided to shut out members of the APC, as well as other members who have raised genuine grievances and a desire to improve the responsiveness of the APC to the desire of members for a party founded on democratic principles.
Under the circumstances, patriotic elements and most of the original founders of the APC have found themselves in the opposing side of this charade. Most of the delegates who bought and paid for forms for the congresses and convention and were elected as delegates have come together to take control and give legitimacy to APC to be now known as and called REFORMED-APC (R-APC).
The R-APC as constituted have officers in all the wards, 774 Local Governments, and all the 36 States of the Federation including the FCT.
The R-APC also have National Executive Committee, the National Working Committee and other organs of the Party are properly constituted and functional.

The R-APC, will work with like-minded political parties and groups to offer Nigeria qualitative good governance in 2019. Nigeria faces an existential threat arising from three years of near destruction of this country and the exacerbation of our ethnic, religious and divisive cleavages. We will in concert with others offer real change to Nigeria. Not fake change. It is clear that our party needs a leadership that will live by its founding ideals. We have therefore decided to legitimately lead those members to work to rebuild our nation more firmly on genuine democratic principles, to enshrine good governance and restore the faith of Nigerians in the possibility of the existence of a prosperous, secure and peaceful nation
We call on all Nigerians, not to despair as a rescue plan is in the works and will be unfolded soon.

A 40 year oldHenry Anaele of number 72, Goodness Estate, Satellite Town, Lagos has been remanded in prison for allegedly beating his wife to death, whom he accused of collecting the sum of N200 from another man without his permission.
A police prosecutor, Inspector Cousin Adams had told the Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, that the accused committed the offence on June 15, about 11.45 pm, at No. 72, Goodness Estate, Satellite Town, Lagos.
He said that the accused had found out that someone gave his 35 year old wife, Chinyere, the sum of N200, which did not go down well with him.
“This angered the accused who beat up his wife to death for collecting the money.”
He said that the offence contravened Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 which prescribes a death sentence for offenders.
The Chief Magistrate, O.O. Olatunji, said that the accused should be remanded at the Ikoyi Prisons pending advice from the State Director of Public prosecutions (DPP).
Anaele, 40, whose plea was not taken, had appeared on a charge of murder.
The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), an Islamic Group, has vowed to stand by President Muhammad Buhari through thick and thin, describing him as a living legend.
The Director of the group, Professor Ishaq Akintola, said in a statement today, Wednesday, said that the President is well known for his integrity, prudence and simplicity.
“It is not about any close relationship or acquaintance. It is Buhari’s integrity that warms our heart. We marvel at his prudence, his simplicity and his altruism. He is simply a living legend,” read the statement.
“These are the qualities which we cherish in Buhari. His political party does not matter to us. Some Nigerians are not being honest. All of us have been complaining for a long time that the problem with Nigeria is leadership. We accused our leaders of greed, avarice and selfishness. But today we have a leader who loves Nigeria more than himself but then we want to start listening to looters.
“A former military governor, former military head of state and former chairman Petroleum Task Force (PTF) who refused to steal one kobo. We have a man who, in spite of all the chances he had to steal, he has no fleet of cars, no private estates within the country; he has no foreign account, no houses in London, New York or any foreign land.”
Akintola observed that Nigerians have been complaining for long that corrupt leaders always got away with their loot, but these days, there is a President to whom transparency, probity and accountability are uppermost.
“Our support for this administration is driven by patriotism and good governance but not based on religion. If the Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo who is a Christian clergy contests election tomorrow we will support him because he shares the same vision with the President,” he said.
“Wole Soyinka and Femi Falana are Christians. We will not hesitate to rally behind them tomorrow if they vie for leadership positions. We would have given all our energy to support Tai Solarin, Dr. Beko Ransome Kuti, Chima Ubani and Ken Saro Wiwa who were all Christians had they contested for the post of president in their lifetime.
“As religious leaders, we are speaking up to guide politicians because things may go wrong if we keep quiet. We will never give up on Nigeria. We will never surrender this country to kleptomaniacs and blood merchants no matter the amount of blackmail.
“This struggle is towards a better future for Nigerian youth, Nigerian children and generations yet unborn. Posterity will judge us.”
He called on Muslims not to shy away from politics, saying that politics determines whether the roads will be good or not. He also lamented that some politicians were earning N29 million monthly while poor workers were not getting N18,000 minimum wage when due.
“The International Monetary Fund revealed in 1999 that one percent of our population enjoys 85 percent of the wealth, leaving the remaining 99 percent of the population to struggle before having access to the remaining 15 percent of Nigeria’s wealth,’ he said.
“That is why facilities cannot go round. That is why we have falling school walls. That is why public hospitals are glorified mortuaries.”
An Igbo political group, known as Igbo Political Bridge (IPOB), the same acronym with the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), has declared its support for the second term ambition of President Muhammadu Buhari. It stressed that the President is good to go for the second term.
In a statement signed by its national co-coordinator, Sunday Egejuru, the Igbo political bridge group said that its endorsing President Buhari because he is not an enemy of Nigeria.
The statement reads: ”The Igbo Political Bridge IPOB hereby declare that it supports the re-election of President Mohammadu Buhari in 2019. Our support is predicated on the fact that he would serve for only four years and power will move to the South East in 2023. President Buhari is not an enemy of Ndigbo as some Igbos claim.
In 2003 , he picked Senator Chuba Okadigbo as his running mate and in 2007 , he chose Chief Edwin Umezuoke as his running mate. Could a man that hate Igbos do that. It was when he realized in 2015 that Igbos stuck to Ex President Goodluck Jonathan that he went to the South West to pick a deputy. Buhari may be rigid and meticulous but he does not hate the Igbos.
He may have participated in the civil war, but some Igbos also fought on Nigeria side during the war and are today representing Igbos in some national outings. IPOB therefore calls on Ndigbo to vote massively for President Buhari in 2019. It’s the shortest route to Igbo Presidency.”
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has again injected the sum of $210 million into the inter-bank Foreign Exchange Market as a way of ensuring adequate liquidity in the foreign exchange market to meet customers’ requests in various segments of the market.

Former Lagos Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav has said that the protest by some policemen in the North East yesterday, Monday, was an act of treason.
Abubakar Tsav, in a statement in Makurdi today, Tuesday, stressed the need for the Federal Government to urgently address the matter.
He insisted that the incident clearly showed that there was a dereliction of duty and inhumanity on the part of the police authorities.
“It is an act of gross indiscipline laced with treason for policemen to embark on demonstration for none payments of their allowances, while on operation especially in volatile areas like Maiduguri which is infested with Boko Haram insurgency.
“The police authorities ought to know this; if the welfare of the policemen on operation is not properly taken care of how can they give in their best in the operation?
“There is gross dereliction of duty and inhumanity on the part of the police authorities here and this should be immediately addressed, the policemen involved should not be victimized.”
Abubakar Tsav, who is also the immediate past Federal Commissioner of Public Compliant Commission (PCC), advised the police authorities and the federal government to seriously look into the issue of selective promotions in the organization.
“The issue of selective promotion in the police is another serious issue which the authorities and the presidency need to look into with all seriousness to ensure justice and fairness.
“The policy of “Monkey dey work, and Baboon the chop ” should not be allowed in the police.
“Nothing should be done to dampen the zeal and enthusiasm of the working personnel, promotion should be on merit and seniority as has always been.”
Some policemen on special duty in the North East had on Monday, protested over non-payment of their allowances among other things.
