That Andrew Yakubu’s Loot, By Charly Boy

The other day, I was in the midst of those I thought were reasonable people – a small group of lawyers, engineers and realtors or real estate guys, and as usual, the topic of conversation was our dear country Nigeria. Then someone said, “Abegi President Buhari should bring back our corruption,” and to my surprise, everyone was laughing. I missed the joke, but I could swear the speaker was expressing the sentiment of the people I was with who were engulfed in a mumu laughter.

Who in Nigeria wey go say him no know say corruption na 99% of our wahala? Abeg why e be say na so so mumu mumu people full dis country? How can anybody govern a people who celebrate corruption the way we do and then cry foul when the damage is done, as though they had no idea where it came from? Kai, weytin be our problem Sef!

Walahitalai, even Jesus cannot govern a country wey still dey celebrate a president who presided over nothing but the wanton pilfering of its resources. And some Mumu Nigerians go dey wish make him come back to power. Na wa o.

Most people for Naija dey Craze. We dey Sick. And many of us dey Mental. I am sure you must have heard/read about the former NNPC Boss, Andrew Yakubu, who typifies what is damaging the Nigerian brand. Of course there are many Yakubus in Nigeria, even in my village of Oguta. The evil in the hearts of these men and women who are mindless and mean is for sure the bedrock of our recession; unemployment; suffering; hunger and infrastructural decay as billions and trillions of our monies are often pocketed by political criminals.

In the space of two years, see how much of our looted money was recouped by the government of President Muhammadu Buhari:

$153 million = Diezani Allison Madueke;
$15 million = Patience Jonathan;
N4billion = NIMASA boss Patrick Akpobolokemi
Heartbreaking N1trillion = Ex-Service chiefs
N111million = INEC Staff
$9.8 million & £74,000 = Andrew Yakubu
4.7bn arms fund = Obanikoro/Fayose
N11.7 billion mansion built by Deziani in Banana Island, Lagos.

Haba! Haba!! Haba!!! Is this a stealing competition?

But Andrew Yakubu own vex me die. Look at the clandestine place that $9.8m and another £74, 000 was found! Who would have thought there was such magnitude of national treasure there? See ehn, this stunning discovery by the EFCC makes me wonder how a soulless criminal of Andrew Yakubu’s ilk could have received $10million in cash as gift – as claimed by him – and how much gift would have been given to many other thieves, evil peoples and demons who had over the last decade, dotted our government. Oh… Where is my gun? I dey seriously feel like shooting somebody! In the end, common man go die by jungle justice ooo.

My people, I no dey fit sleep again. I no fit comprehend how a human being go thief him generation money come go church go do thanksgiving. The supposed Man of God who is his pastor is a bastard and that church is a fraud; in fact, the God to whom they pray sef Na LIE. Nigerians must rise up and in unison fight this corruption, because if we fail today, this our suffering no go end o… and many of us go die for nothing. Our failure as a country is our fault as a people. Andrew Yakubu dey for every family for Naija. You wan get money but you no wan work. Looking for miracles in churches and mosques. If we fail to work, we can only steal to survive and that is where the change must begin – with us all. A country where people spend more time on their knees more than they do on their job will not stand; a country where the mind of the people has been buried in the erroneous mentality of getting rich only by praying; daily spiritual diet; where men of God openly fraternize with certified and indicted thieves and drool over their loot – is  a country on its way to hell. My people, let us become a people who work so that we can collectively fight and fix this country. This madness of looters no go stop if our miracle-stricken mindset no change.

I hear say government dey give whistleblowers 5%, good. As the President of Frustrated Nigerians, I go ginger anybody wey know any government worker or politician wey dey hide money, for this our jungle. No fear, stand up because me go fight your fight. I am willing to provide further support for those who are afraid and I am willing to stand and fight to ensure that nobody go intimidate you – whether na the looters or agencies of government wey wan dey act funny. I cannot stand back and watch my country, my Naija, my home get looted to the point of monumental destructiveness while those who are capable of helping the government recover loots for the benefit of us all are intimidated by FEAR of DEATH. All man go die nonetheless and e fit be anytime.

I am prepared to lead a national revolution against corruption and in support of President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption war. I will go to meet with the EFCC boss, the ICPC boss, the police boss and all those who are trying to give this country renewed hope. Very soon the voice of ordinary Nigerians will be so loud that the interest of the frustrated Nigerians will be a national priority. For decades, I have never heard thieves return so much money back to the system. And for this reason alone, I go clap small for President Muhammadu Buhari. As the President of All Frustrated Nigerians, I enjoin all of us to shine our eyes and act right so we no go take our hand decimate what is left of our land. This mindless stealing and looting is just too much. Na God go punish bad people.

Niger Delta Development Commission Can’t Account For N7.4 Billion – NEITI

Waziri Adio

The Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) has alleged the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) cannot account for the sum N7.4 billion.

The funds is said to have been allocated for grassroots development projects.

The Executive Secretary of the NDDC, Waziri Adio, who spoke at a retreat in Port Harcourt, said that the new board and management will carry out an independent project implementation audit, corruption risk assessment.

He said that such exercise would enable the Commission to develop a framework to strengthen its operations.

Waziri, who was represented by the director of communications, Orji Ogbonnaya Orji, said that NDDC and NEITI were set up with similar mandates targeted at addressing the syndrome of resource curse, but that in the public’s eye, NDDC is an agency with huge revenue resources and little impact on the lives of the people of the Niger Delta. Asset Management Corporation Of Nigeria Laments Rot In Arik Air

AMCON Boss Ahmed Kuru

The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) has lamented what it described as deep rooted rot in the embattled airline, Arik Air.

AMCON said that it would require over N10 billion to fix the rot before the largest local carrier could resume full and uninterrupted flight operations to its regular routes across the country and beyond.

The asset company made the disclosure in a statement signed by its Spokesman, Mr. Jude Nwauzor in Lagos.

The airline was on February 9, taken over by the Federal Government under the auspices of AMCON, as a result of a whooping debt profile of over N300 billion.

AMCON had directed that the airline would now be managed by Captain Roy Ilegbodu, a veteran aviation expert, under the receivership of Mr. Oluseye Opasanya (SAN).

The statement noted that the situation was so bad that only nine aircraft out of the 30 in the fleet of the airlines were operational. According to the statement, 21 of them have either been grounded, gone for C-check in Europe, among other forms of challenges.

“As if these problems are not enough, the airline does not have money to procure aviation fuel for the nine operational aircrafts because no dealer wants to sale aviation fuel to Arik if it is not on cash-and-carry basis.

“This also calls for public understanding because flight schedules may be realigned based on the nine aircrafts that are available, technically sound and ready for flight operation,” it said.

The statement said it was discovered that Arik also owe its technical partners and also in perpetual default in its lease payments and insurance premium, leading to regular and embarrassing squabbles with different business partners.

“All these problems in addition to huge staff salaries, which have remained unpaid for 11 months; vendors that supply different items to Arik Air that are also owed means that Nigerians may have to tarry-a-while to allow the new management clean up the huge mess at the airline before Arik would finally resume uninterrupted flight,”

The statement quoted Ilegbodu as reassuring Nigerians that these issues; though daunting, would be gradually resolved to enable Arik Air, which carries about 55 per cent of the load in the country recover the 21 aircraft.

According to him, once all the aircrafts are back to the fleet, Arik Air will within the shortest possible time regain its pride of place as a leader among the comity of airlines in Nigeria.

He reiterated the fact that the intervention at Arik Air clearly underscores government’s decision to instill sanity in the nation’s aviation sector, adding that the move also prevented a major disaster that would have befallen the airline.

It said that the new management had settled the insurance cover for the aircraft which would have expired on February12 and also met with different trade creditors as well as aggrieved staffers.

It, therefore, called for public understanding as the management begins the tough job of ensuring that Arik is returned to full operational capacity within the shortest possible time frame.

Editorial: The Politics Of Buhari’s Health

new-york-and-buhari

It is perfectly in order for Nigerians to insist in knowing about what happens to their President, any sitting President, at any given time, much more about his health, his welfare and all that. What is also certain in any governmental system is the fact that citizens get worried, positively and or negatively, about any form of ill health of the President, especially when such ill health is presumed to have been kept in secret from them.
It was perhaps, in keeping the citizenry abreast of the President’s health that, even before President Muhammadu Buhari left, on January 19 for London, on vacation, information about checking his health while in London was included in a statement issued by the Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina.
As a matter of fact, there was nothing in Adesina’s statement to suggest that Buhari’s health was in danger or that his purpose of going to London was for any kind of medical treatment.
As a matter of fact, Buhari walked into the aircraft that took him to London bubbling. He shook hands with his aides that were present at the point of his departure and even cracked jokes.
But trust Nigerians, especially, those in opposition and the large army of corruption-fighting-back, plus their latest recruits, less than 36 hours after Buhari left, news flew from God knew where, that he was dead, not even that he was sick.
Ever since then, Nigeria and the world had been fed with so many stories about him: from the rumour that Buhari was dead, to the hateful questioning of the various photographs showing his wife, Aisha, Governor Amosu Ibikunle of Ogun state and others visiting him in London where he is resting, to the very dangerous story spewed by Sahara Reporters about the President undergoing cancer surgery. It has been a kind of celebrated case of the high point of rumour.
In what it tagged: EXCLUSIVE, Sahara Reporters came up, on February 8, 2017 with a story of Buhari undergoing what it called Chemotherapy treatment for six months to treat acute cancer at Princess Grace Hospital in London.
According to the wild wild Sahara Reporters, the President (Buhari), who was being treated at the Princess Grace Hospital, 42-52 Nottingham Place, London, collapsed last week when the first medicine was tried on him, forcing his doctors to suspend the chemotherapy treatment immediately. Sahara Reporters which went on to tell the world that President Buhari had been battling prostate cancer for more than five years, said that the drug that would kill the cancer, known as chemo, has side effects such as urine and bladder changes and kidney problems and that it can affect concentration and focus, mood changes, fatigue and hair loss; easy bruising and bleeding, mouth, tongue and throat problems such as sores and pain with swallowing, anaemia (low red blood cell counts), nausea and vomiting, appetite changes, constipation, diarrhoea, among others!!!
Of course, the picture Sahara Reporters painted was that of a President (Buhari) already on his way, inevitably to his grave. And that even before he would die shortly, he was incapacitated. The implication of all that was that constitutionally, Buhari could no longer be the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
One did not need to go far to see the direction Sahara Reporters was leading its readers, having presented Buhari as suffering from a disease with drug that has such mouthwatering and fearful side effects,
Funny enough, just at the same time, on February 8, when the gullible ones were busy reading and sharing the Sahara Reporters tale, Buhari, the subject of such wild wild report was playing host to the National leader of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the first national chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande in his London house where he is resting.
It was as if Sahara Reporters has forgotten or was deliberately playing ignorant game in its haste to satisfy its sponsors, that President Buhari had never been on admission in hospital since he arrived in London.
The Sahara Reporters failed to tell its gullible readers where the preliminary drug was administered on President Buhari which led to his being collapsed; against the backdrop of the fact that even mad and senseless people know that surgery cannot be carried out on a person outside the four walls of a hospital, and it is usually done in a hospital theatre.
Of course, the wild wild story of Sahara Reporters came as one of the numerous orchestrated stories in many social media, posted mainly by people from their bedrooms. The carriers of such stories may have forgotten that even if Buhari is out of the way today, either through death (which will come to every living thing either now or later) or by the well-arranged lies all over the place, it is a human being like him that would become the President. And that no body knows what such person, who would be President, could do to change Buhari’s fight against corruption and defeat Boko Haram and above all, bring cheap food to our tables.
Or is it just hatred for the person of Buhari, for daring to touch the untouchables who have milked this country dry and left it gasping for air in terms of funds to govern well?
Why all the politics about the health status of President Buhari who has proved time and time again that he was not sick to the extent of being admitted in hospital? Or do we just wish and pray that he should be seriously sick or dead, as even Sahara Reporters had successfully concocted?
How would the death of President Buhari solve the numerous challenges the nation is facing, with far-reaching consequences on the living standards of the citizenry?
Do we just like to be dangerously noisy for the fun of it or for a pot of porridge? [myad]

Presidency Proposes A New Vision For Oil Producing Niger Delta

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo
Yemi Osinbajo

The Presidency has formally proposed a new vision that would signpost a new era to the oil producing communities in Niger Delta.

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, who spoke at a townhall meeting with oil producing communities in Bayelsa, as part of his official visit to the State said: “and so we have come today on behalf of the President and Commander-in-Chief, with cabinet colleagues, and heads of relevant agencies to propose a new vision and to signpost a new era to the people of the oil producing communities of this state and Nigeria.”

He gave assurance that the Federal Government will begin a partnership with the oil producing states, local governments, oil companies, private sector, and civil society organizations for the rapid development of these communities.

“We must convene an oil-communities intervention meeting to work out what can be done in the short to medium term and the long term possibilities. We must focus on how to ensure that the people see the benefits of the wealth of the land.
“This new vision will define the future of the region. Oil exploitation by itself cannot suffice to assure our people of decent jobs and a decent income.

“We must make our oil producing communities’ hubs for petro-chemical industries, small and large. We must make these communities hubs for refining and related activities.

“The Ministry of Petroleum in collaboration with the oil companies is working on several initiatives for host communities including working with illegal refiners in oil bearing communities to participate in modular refineries that will be established. There is no doubt that thermal power stations should be stationed here, it makes sense, the gas deposits are here.

“The biggest benefit we can obtain is to attract more investment to the region. I listened to my brother Udengs, President of the Ijaw Youth Council, who is one of the most articulate advocates of the Niger Delta cause that I have yet heard. I also listened carefully to the Agricultural economist, Zigha Ayibakuro.

He recalled that the key point they make of the several important points, is that the young men of Bayelsa are entrepreneurs, driven and dynamic and this is critical. Societies are built on the resourcefulness, innovativeness and drive of the people.

According to him, India does not have a drop of oil but it is now home to the largest refinery of Petroleum in the world, saying: “I want to challenge the young professionals and entrepreneurs to set up A Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce and Entrepreneurship Council. Where we can identify those involved in technology, Agriculture, Oil and Gas, manufacturing and the professions. A chamber of commerce properly organized will attract the right kind of local and international partnerships and even funding. I am prepared to work with you on that.

“Today new investments in the oil and gas sector have slowed down so badly because investors have a choice all over the world, even here in Africa, and they will not put their resources in a dangerous or unstable environment.

“This is why our oil producing communities must now refuse to participate in the destruction of pipelines and oil facilities. Aside from loss of revenues this also means further pollution of the land and aqua culture.

“We must not allow anyone to persuade us that we need to destroy investments, pollute our environment to prove a point or to get a few benefits. That is cutting our nose to spite our face!

“From 2015 Nigeria began to lose 1 million barrels of oil daily. Almost 60% of revenues lost to vandalisation. This affected all states, and especially states in the Niger Delta region.

All the requests Udengs made the road to Brass, Airport, etc can only be done when the FG and the states earn revenue.  We cannot destroy the sources of revenue and expect revenues.” [myad]

“Immediately the man saw me, he quickly removed his legs from her table but I did not say anything and I left immediately.
“Since that day I became bitter because I felt cheated; I have given her Holy Bible and Quoran several times to swear that she was not dating the man but she refused.”

“I am always afraid to sleep at home and because of the fear, I packed some of my belongings back to my parent’s house.”
