Why APC Will Win Edo Gubber Poll – Campaign Council

The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Campaign Council for the 2020 Edo governorship election has said that the party deserves to win the election because the governments it formed in the past had impacted positively on the people of the state.

The Council said that it is therefore committed to the victory of the party’s governorship ticket in the election.

APC’s ticket has Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and Alhaji Gani Audu as governorship and deputy governorship candidates respectively.

Secretary of the Council, Hon. Abbas Braimah said in a press release today, July 3 that the council was doing it’s best to ensure the realisation of the presidential mandate.

The statement reads: “On behalf of the Chairman and members of the APC National Campaign Council for the Edo State Governorship Election, I wish to express our deep appreciation and gratitude to the Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress for the opportunity  given us to serve our great party in this capacity.

“We are well aware of the challenges inherent in our assignment, but we are motivated by the clear mandate of President Muhammadu Buhari, that all members of our party should come together and work hard to ensure that APC wins in Edo State come September 19, 2020.

“While doing our best to ensure that this mandate is realised, we will ensure that the will of Edo people is respected at all times.

“We are confident that our job will be made simple by the impressive performance of previous APC governments in the state and the impact that the people-oriented policies of our party as championed by President Muhammadu Buhari has had on the people of our beloved country.

“We promise not to let our party down in performing with diligence, this task for which we have been graciously appointed, to ensure that Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu is elected as governor of Edo State.”

Edo Must Remain APC State Come September – Minister Clem Agba

Prince Clem Ikanade Agba,

Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Clem Ikanade Agba has made it clear that Edo has always been an All Progressives Congress (APC) state and must remain so come the governorship election on September 19 this year.

Agba, in a congratulatory message to the APC governorship flagbearer, Pastor Osagie Ize Iyamu declared: “Edo State has been an APC state and it must remain so.

“It is my sincere hope that leaders, stakeholders and members of the APC in Edo State will work assiduously to sell the profile and agenda of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu to every person even though he is already a household name from his many years as a grassroots mobilizer.

“On my part, I am prepared to offer the leadership alongside our other eminent federal elected and appointed office holders on the platform of our great party to ensure that the party emerges victorious in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive to get Edo State back to the APC fold; and, I take this opportunity to assure Mr President that we will not disappoint him.”

The minister said that the APC in Edo State had demonstrated an uncommon camaraderie and desire to again form the next government in the state.

“I am confident that the government that will emerge after the September election that will be led by Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu will be one that will inspire hope in our people, harness our God-given potentialities and lead Edo people to prosperity.

“The pointer to the victory that lies ahead was the very successful conduct of the primary election in a rancour-free manner, devoid of the shenanigans witnessed in other political parties.”

He called on all members of the party to unite around the Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu/Gani Audu ticket in the overall interest of the party and Edo people.

“I can say without any iota of doubt or equivocation that we shall be victorious on September 19th.”

Ize Iyamu To Obaseki: Let’s Maintain High Standards Of Behavior As We Contest Edo Governorship

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has called on his opponent in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the incumbent governor, Godwin Obaseki to join in maintaining high standards of behavior as they go into the contest.
Ize Iyamu, in a message today, July 2, congratulating governor Obaseki on his 63rd birthday anniversary, said: “as leaders, you and I, including other aspirants, have the opportunity, and responsibility, to make things better and ensure that our contest is marked by democratic values that drive high standards of behavior.”

“Let the will of God be done and I want to assure you that my wish is that we have a campaign, devoid of rancor and violence.”
Ize Iyamu recalled what he described as “divine coincidence,” whereby the two of them are now to  contest again on different political platforms for the opportunity to lead Edo people and serve the state as Governor.
“God appears to have arranged musical chairs for both of us, bringing me to APC which I helped to form and which you contested in 2016, and taking you to PDP where I previously contested and where you have now expressed your preference.”
The APC candidate then assured Obaseki that he had his best and sincere wishes for a happy birthday.

Ministers Rise To Stop Cases Of Patients Being Turned Back In FCT Hospitals Over Coronavirus

National General Hospital, Abuja

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has joined his Health Ministry counterpart, Dr. Osagie Ehanire to stop increasing cases of patients being turned away at the public hospitals over the fear of coronavirus that is ravaging the world.

A statement from the FCT minister’s Chief Press Secretary, Anthony Ogunleye, said that Muhammad Musa Bello decried the trend whereby the entire system is skewed and geared towards fighting only one, out of hundreds of ailments, adding that it is a cause for great concern.

The minister was quoted as saying: “sad stories of people being turned away from hospitals with non-Covid related ailments or even denied life-saving first aid treatments for fear of contraction of the virus have come to the fore.

“The increasing number of cases due to community transmission has thrown up the necessity of all our hospitals to become directly involved in this fight, especially with the collection of samples.”

He gave assurance that the partnership between the FCTA and the Federal Ministry of Health will continue, especially in the use of the facilities and expertise of both organizations for the improvement of health services in the FCT.

The minister commended health workers for their efforts in the fight against the pandemic, even as he expressed the commitment of the FCT Administration towards sustained partnerships to step up public awareness, which is key to putting a lid on its spread.

This was even as the minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, advised management of public hospitals not to give room for other life threatening illnesses to thrive and increase mortality.

This, he said, would bring about a serious setback if medical services, including emergency services, begin to deteriorate in the wake of coronavirus, adding that neglect of any sick person is unethical and not acceptable.

He assured that adequate steps are being taken to ensure that patients are not turned away from hospitals to die needlessly,

The minister said today, July 1 that the flights will commence at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja and the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos.

He said that the Port Harcourt, Owerri and Maiduguri airports will begin operations on the 11th of July, while flights will resume in other airports across the country on July 15th .

Dates for international flights’ resumption will be announced later.

Hadi Sirika advised passengers to follow all safety guidelines and protocols put in place to ensure that the airports do not become channels for the spread of the coronavirus.

Chief Of Army Staff, Buratai, Opposes Dialogue With Bandits

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, has said that the military will not engage in dialogue with bandits or any criminal to bring an end to insecurity.

Buratai, who spoke today, July 1 at a news conference to mark the commencement of the Nigerian Army Day Celebration 2020 at the Army Special Super Camp, Faskari, Katsina State said that dialogue with criminals is not a military option in dealing with insecurity.

He stressed that he did not believe in dialogue with bandits.

“May be when I drop the uniform, I may consider that, but for now, it is not the military option.”

Buratai said that if the civil authorities decided to go for dialogue, the military would have no option than to support them to achieve peace.

“As far as the Nigerian army is concerned, dialogue is not an option; it is not on our table; it is absolutely political decision.

“Some newspapers quoted me as saying that the troops should move into the bush and defeat them tactically; that is our mission and that is what we want to achieve.

“Anything short of that will only prolong the insecurity.

“So we are determined to deal with them in the bush or wherever they are, even in the town and cities.

“We will deal with them accordingly.”

Buratai also described as false the allegations that the troops were not always responding to distress calls from some communities during attacks by bandits.

He said the allegations were being promoted by those who had decided to politicise the security situation in the affected places.

According to him, those who often propagate false allegations always go behind to apologise to the authorities.

While accusing politicians of always trying to drag the military into the political domain, the COAS, however, said Army personnel would continue to remain professional in the discharge of their constitutional roles.

“It is unfortunate that some politicians are taking military operations beyond what it should be, that is, to the political domain.

“All those allegations are false.

“We are a professional army; we are responsive, and I have always stressed that we must be responsive to our operational needs, to the challenges of our country and to our troops’ welfare.

“Some have even gone further to say that the Nigerien forces are coming in to intervene to deal with bandits in our territory.

“We will continue to resolve any insecurity that comes.”
