Malami enjoined the two defendants  to observe the terms of their bail and refrain from engaging in any act that was inimical to public peace and national security.
He also urged them not to do anything to jeopardise their ongoing trial which would run its course in accordance with the laws of the land.

Buhari Asks Insurgents, Kidnappers, Armed Robbers, Others To Repent Or…..

President Muhammadu Buhari has called on   insurgents, terrorists, armed robbers, kidnappers and economic saboteurs, to retrace their steps and join people of goodwill and common humanity or face annihilation.

“If they fail to heed this call, they will meet their end as the armed forces, security and law-enforcement agencies are poised now to confront and defeat them.”

In his message today,  December 24, marking Christmas, the President advised Nigerians to make extra efforts to live in peace and harmony with their neighbours, irrespective of differences.

“While it is gladdening to note that incidents of violence and conflicts have reduced drastically owing to the several operations embarked on by our security agencies, we must not let our guards down.

“As Christmas indicates good tidings of hope and redemption, Nigerians can look forward to a turnaround in the administration’s priority areas of fighting corruption, providing security, economic diversification, job creation and infrastructure upgrade.

“Having recently signed the 2020 Appropriation Bill into Law, I reiterate my promise during the presentation of the Budget Proposals before the National Assembly on October 8, 2019 that, “We remain resolutely committed to the actualization of our vision of a bright and prosperous future for all Nigerians.”

“The 2020 Budget of Sustainable Growth and Job Creation will be rigorously implemented to further deepen its impact on the generality of our people.

“Let me use this occasion to once more thank the leadership and members of the National Assembly for the speedy consideration and passage of the 2020 Budget Proposals.

“We are confident that this new era of cordiality and cooperation between the executive and the legislature will fast-track our collective commitment to giving our people better life and governance.

“As we celebrate Christmas, let us remember to pray for members of our armed forces and other security agencies who are making so much sacrifice to protect us from people of evil intent. We should also extend love to the families of those whose bread-winners made the ultimate sacrifice while defending their fatherland.

“I appeal to motorists to drive with care this festive season, while road safety and security officials should ensure compliance with safety measures to avoid needless accidents and attendant loss of life and property.

“I wish you a Merry Christmas, and a more fulfilling New Year 2020.”

Get The Facts About Nigeria Right, Buhari Advises US

President Muhammadu Buhari has advised United States of America to ensure that its sources of information on Nigeria cut across all sectors as some people might provide misleading and manipulative narratives for self-serving purposes, ignoring the larger picture of a united country.

The President, who received Letters of Credence of United States of America Ambassador to Nigeria, Ms Mary Beth Leonard, today, December 24, at the presidential Villa, Abuja,  said that the recent listing of Nigeria for human rights concerns created an impression that some people were being unfairly treated or marginalized in the country.

“I know that those with access have created an impression of being marginalized.

“I sit here with a clear conscience. I took an oath and I am honouring the office.”

President Buhari said that he took some time to explain the situation in the country when he met with President Donald Trump in Washington DC as the American President expressed concern with reports of attacks on segments of the society.

“It is not an easy task to work for the unity of the country, and I am doing my best. During your stay in the country I am asking you to ensure that your sources of strategic information cut across.”

The President advised the envoy to use the opportunity of her posting to Nigeria, with her experience, knowledge and energy to get the facts on the country.

In her remarks, the United States Ambassador said Nigeria was listed on a watch list to deepen conversation on the humanitarian situation in the country, accepting that some people could “flare the flames and crystalize issues’’ that could affect peaceful-coexistence.

“There are people who make things less attractive than they seem,’’ she said, noting that the report will deepen conversation of the situation in the country, especially with religious leaders and mediators.

“I want to assure that the United States recognizes and celebrates the integration in Nigeria.’’

She said the United States will always side with transparent processes.

The Ambassador said that Nigerians and America have a lot in common in terms of “being big among neighbours, enthusiastic and entrepreneurial”.

Leonard assured President Buhari of support from the United States, especially on the humanitarian challenges, while appreciating the willingness to always share useful information and intelligence with her country.

“I feel it’s a privilege and great honour to be here; coming to see the giant of Africa. I have worked for 30 decades before coming to Nigeria. We will do a lot together for peace, security and delivering humanitarian assistance,’’ she added.

President Buhari also received Letters of Credence from the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Nigeria, Ahamed Lebbe Sabarullah Khan.

The President appreciated the country for supporting Nigeria to provide the President of the United Nations General Assembly.

In his remarks, the High Commissioner said: “our countries face similar challenges and we will support each other.’’

He said that Sri Lanka will also strengthen bilateral relations with Nigeria on trade and investments.

Presidency Describes Falana As Failed Politician, Full Of Lies

Femi Falana

The Presidency has described a Lagos based lawyer, Femi Falana as a failed politician, having unsuccessful contested as opposition candidate for governor of Ekiti state.

The Presidency said that Falana, “has boarded the free-publicity train, full of those seeking personal media attention in claiming the president is planning a third term in office. All and every claim that is made that suggest President Muhammadu Buhari will stand for a third term in office is false.”

A statement by the spokesman of the President, Malam Garba Shehu, emphasized that the President had since October 2 personally debunked the idea of a  third term.
The statement referred specifically to such presidential denial or otherwise, saying that the President had said: “The Presidency wishes to correct internet-based gossip and uninformed media commentary regarding presidential term limits, given credence by so-called support groups, staging street demonstrations asking President Muhammadu Buhari to do a third term.
“There are no circumstances – nor set of circumstances – under which President Buhari may seek to amend the Constitution regarding the two-term term limit on holding office as President.
“President Buhari intends to serve his full second elected term in office, ending 2023 – and then there shall be a general election in which he will not be a candidate.
“There is not even the faintest possibility that this will change.
“It is important to note that there was a past attempt to change the Constitution to allow for the then incumbent president to stand for a third term. That attempt was wrong, unconstitutional – and rightly rebuffed. No such attempt will happen under this President.”
The statement said that President Buhari is a democrat and that respects the Constitution.
“Any activity aimed at altering the two-term limit will not succeed and shall never have his time nor support.”
It made clear that the President will have nothing more to say on this matter, adding: “apart from the repeat of this statement, ad infinitum – that he will not be seeking, accepting, nor standing for a third term.”

Saudi Arabian Court has sentenced five suspects to death in connection to the gruesome murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Three others have received lengthy prison terms for their roles in the killing.
Khashoggi, a Saudi national residing in Washington was murdered at the Saudi embassy in Istanbul last October.
Grisly details about the killing, including allegations that the journalist’s body was chopped up, made headlines and strained relations between Riyadh and many of its western allies.
In September, Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman accepted responsibility for the murder, but insisted that he did not order the killing.
Saudi Arabia’s public prosecutor announced the court’s ruling on Monday.
Apart from the five sentenced to death, three additional suspects will spend 24 years behind bars.
The prosecutor said that Saud al-Qahtani, a senior Saudi royal adviser, was investigated, but later released without being charged.
The Saudi consul in Turkey was also released.
The investigation found that there was no past enmity between those convicted and Khashoggi, the public prosecutor said.
