President Muhammadu Buhari has called off his much publicized two-day state visit to Lagos state but will be represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on the same day, Monday.
A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to Osinbajo in the person of Laolu Akande said that the Vice-President will now represent the President in Lagos.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu also confirmed that President Buhari will no longer be in Lagos, though without offering any explanation.
The visit which would have seen the President inaugurating a number of projects would have started on Monday and ended on Tuesday.
This is even as members of the President’s advanced team consisting of protocol officials, security agents, medical officers and journalists have already arrived in Lagos ahead of President Buhari.
As the trip was cancelled, the team would have to return to Abuja soonest.
Akande said in the statement: “on behalf of the President, Prof. Osinbajo would commission a number of projects in the state as part of the visit. [myad]
