A 90-year-old man, Rasaki Raji has been sentenced to 6 months imprisonment with an option of N50,000.00 fine for duping a woman of N150,000.00 with the pretext of selling a plot of land to her..
The accused was arraigned before a Magistrate Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State, on a two-count charge of obtaining and stealing of N150,000.00.
The prosecutor, Oyebanji Oluseye told the court that the accused, in the year 2014, at Idi-Oro area of Apete, Ibadan, committed the offence by collecting the money from one Mrs. Omolara Ajani by promising her to get her half plot of land.
The Prosecutor said that the accused took the N150,000.00 and converted it to his own use, an offence which he said, contravened sections 419 and 390(9), Criminal Code Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000.
In her ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Giwa Babalola sentenced the accused to 6 months imprisonment with N50,000. 00 option of fine. [myad]
