Council Imposes Dusk To Dawn Curfew In Kogi, Over Rising Cases Of Kidnapping

Chief Administrator of Okene Local Council in Kogi State Nigeria, Mallam Abdulrazaq Muhammad, has imposed a desk to dawn curfew in the area in reaction to a spate of kidnapping and killings that have been rising.
In a statement today, Thursday, by Abdulmumin Abubakar, Special Adviser to the Local Government on media, the Chief Administrator particularly drew the attention of residents and business men to the new arrangement aimed at beefing up security in the area.
He said that all the activities of motorcycle operators known as Okada riders, have been restricted between the hours of 6.00 am and 6.00 pm daily, even as movement of persons withing the local government has been restricted between the hours of 6.00 am and 8.00 pm daily
“All bear parlours, drinking joints and business premises will now operate between the hours of 6am and 6pm daily.”
Abdulrazaq advised residents and visitors to the Local government to adhere strictly to the new security measures as security agencies have been ordered to enforce the directives with immediate effect.
He assured the people that the new trend of security threat would be defeated in no distance time even as he called on the people to volunteer credible information to security agencies or directly to his office. The Chief Administrator said that all ward heads, traditional rulers and community leaders in Okene area have been directed to further announce this to people in their respective domains. [myad]
