Senator Godswill Akpabio, senator-elect from Akwa Ibom State has emerged as the Senate President of the 10th National Assembly.
Senator Akpabio and a former governor of Zamfara state, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, were nominated for the senate president position.
Akpabio, who is former governor of Akwa Ibom State, got 63 votes to defeat his rival, Yari, who polled 46 votes.
Senator Akpabio has been the choice of the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
