No fewer than 16 wedding guests, including four children, were taken away by a band of kidnappers, who reportedly struck at Gaube community in Gwargwada Chiefdom of Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
A resident of the area, Shuaibu Dantani, who gave details of the incident today, December 12, said that the victims, who were mostly women, were abducted on their way from a wedding in Abaji Area Council on Saturday evening.
The kidnappers, wielding guns, were said to have flagged down the vehicle conveying them, and whisking them away to an unknown destination.
“A man riding a motorcycle on his way to Rubochi who nearly ran into the kidnappers returned to the village and raised alarm,” he said.
According to him, family members of the victims were yet to establish contact with the kidnappers.
Meanwhile, the traditional ruler, Agabe of Gwargwada, Alhaji Hussain Agabi Imam, has confirmed the incident, saying that nobody has been able to establish communication with the kidnappers.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, Adeh Josephine, is yet to confirm the incident.
