The government of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has expressed worry over the menace of cattle herders that used to occupy some Abuja major roads with their cows.
As a result, the Director in the Department of Security Services, Adamu Gwary has directed security agencies to take appropriate measures in curtailing the menace immediately.
The security agencies were also directed to checkmate the activities of scavengers, popularly known as Baban bola among others around the federal Capital city.
Adamu said that the upcoming G7 meeting slated for July 5th in the FCT, will herald the operations across the contiguous states to the FCT.
The G7 security operations is a collaborative efforts between the FCT and its contiguous States, including Nasarawa, Plateau, Kogi, Niger and Kaduna States.
The collaboration is set to tackle the menace of kidnappings and other violent crimes in the FCT and its surrounding States in the coming weeks.
The FCT Administration is hosting the meeting for the Technical Committee, which comprises the heads of the security agencies, the members States’ Commissioners of Police, the Director of Security and the Commandant of the NSCDC.
There is the military component too, the Army Headquarters Garrison and the Defence Headquarters are part of the meeting.
They are expected to discuss and agree on modalities and approach to the clearance exercise.
