The Nigerian Military has vowed to soon mount a special operation to retake the Gwoza, in Borno state, presently occupied by members of the outlawed Boko Haram even as it laughed off the claim by the sect declaring Gwoza the seat of what it called Caliphate.

the Director of Defence Information, Major Gen Chris Olukolade, made clear in the Defence Headquarters twitter handle twitter.com/DefenceInfoNG, that the military would not allow any part of the country to be ceded to the insurgents.

“Appropriate military operation to secure that area from the activities of the bandits is still ongoing. Any group of terrorists laying claim to any portion of the country will not be allowed to get away with the expression of delusion and crime.”

He said that the claim by Boko Haram, to making Gwoza a part of phantom Caliphate is empty, adding: “the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Nigerian state is still intact.
