The additional day became necessary as the new moon was not sighted on Monday to signal the observance of Eid-El-Fitri, declared Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th July, 2016 as Public
Holiday.
Minister of Interior, retired Lt Geneneral Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, who announced the additional one day, called on Nigerians to use the holiday period for sober reflections and to ensure harmony, unity and peaceful co-existence.
He asked for full support to the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in his sustained effort to pursue socio-economic and political growth of the nation. [myad]
