Organised Labour Goes On Indefinite Nationwide Strike From Monday, June 3

Organised Labour in Nigeria has declared an indefinite nationwide strike, beginning from Monday, June 3.
The strike, according to the leaders of the two labour unions, is being planned because of the failure of the Federal Government to meet the demand of the workers for a new Minimum Wage.
At a news briefing today, May 31, in Abuja, the nation’s federal capital city, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero and President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Festus Osito, said that the strike action has become unavoidable
The two leaders said that the strike action is coming on the heels of failure of the government to announce a new minimum wage and reverse the hike in electricity tariff among others.
They apologised for the inconvenience this will create for Nigerians but said that it is the only logical thing to do.
