Edo Assembly Moves To Impeach Deputy Governor

The Edo State House of Assembly has commenced the process of Impeaching the State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, by forwarding a notice to him.
The notice of impeachment was sent today after the House proceedings, which commenced at 11.30 am. The deputy governor is expected to respond within seven days.
A source disclosed that 22 lawmakers out of the 24 signed the impeachment notice, making the eventual removal of Shaibu inevitable.
The impeachment notice is the latest in the rift between the state Governor, Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy, who have been at loggerheads since mid-last year when Shaibu announced his intention to run for the office of the governor of the state.
