As Impeachment Fire Throws Nasarawa Into Crisis, Speaker Runs To Aso Rock

Nasarawa
Speaker of the embattled Nasarawa state House of Assembly, Musa Muhammed, today, made an unsual appearance at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The House of Assembly has been pushing hard to impeach the state governor, Alhaji Tanko Al-Makura, the move that has thrown the state capital, Lafia, into series of political tumoil.
The speaker, who emerged from a brief meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan kept mum when newsmen asked him about his mission to the Aso Rock.
He merely retorted: “I’m here on a private visit,” insisting that he did not have the mandate of members of the state House of Assembly to speak to the press.
There was speculation however, that President Jonathan asked the speaker to stop the impeachment process against governor Al-Makura.
Before now, some traditional rulers in Nasarawa state have tried to stop the lawmakers from going ahead with the impeachment, but they went ahead with the process. [myad]
