The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Kogi East Senatorial District rerun election held on Saturday, Air Marshal Isaac Alfa, has been declared the winner.
The Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Lucky Ovwasa, declared the PDP the winner of the election on Sunday.
Professor Ovwasa said that Alfa scored 56,572 votes, while the closest party to the PDP was the Labour Party with 11, 908 votes.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police, who led the security team to the election, expresses satisfaction with its conduct. [myad]
