A video currently trending online showed the protesters in the background saying: “..set of criminals. They want to go and spoil Nigeria again for the second time. It’s not going to be possible. You Can.”
Atiku, who had not stepped foot on American soil for over a decade, visited the country for the first time on January 17, 2019. He seemed to have accompanied the Senate President, Bukola Saraki as he was trailing behind him anywhere he went during the duration of the historic visit.
The former Nigeria’s Vice Pesidential had for long, stayed away from America for fear of being arrested over allegations of corruption, including one by US congressman, Williams Jefferson that part of the $100,000 cash found in his refrigerator was intended as bribe for Atiku for his role in helping American firm iGate secure a contract to expand broadband in Nigeria.
In the video, showing the protest which took place in the premises of the Presidential Ballroom in the US, some persons were seen arguing while others were just milling around.
