Supreme Court Ruling: Kogi Prepares To Elect Local Govt Chairmen, To Replace Caretaker Setup

The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) has set in motion, the process for the conduct of election of local government chairmen and other officials to replace the existing caretaker arrangement.

This is coming on the heels of the Supreme Court Judgment that abrogated ad-hoc arrangement for the running of the local governments and conferred autonomy on them across Nigeria.
Information reaching us at Greenbarge Reporters online newspaper said that the Kogi SIEC will from Tuesday, July 16, begin interfacing with stakeholders, preparatory to the conduct of the election.
The meeting will be held to brief political parties and other stakeholders on the timetable and schedule for the election.
