Manchester United’s quest for a seventh successive victory in the EPL failed to click today as the Red Devils could only force out a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa at the Villa Park.
A flash of brilliance from Christian Benteke gave the hosts the lead in the 18th minute before Radamel Falcao restored parity in the second half through a nice header.
Villa ended the match with 10-men following the controversial sending off of Gabby Agbonlahor but the numerical advantage amounted to nothing for United who could not secure the coveted winning goal and thus settle for a solitary point.
In other centers, Charlie Austin became the first QPR player to score a hat-trick in the Premier League since Bradley Allen in Nov. 1993 as he helped his team from two goals down to secure a vital 3-2 win over misfiring West Brom.
Also Southampton halted their bad run with a 3-0 victory. Romelu Lukaku helped the Saints take the lead with his 38th minute own goal before Graziano Pelle and Maya Yoshida completed the business of the day with a goal each in the second half.
At the Uptown Park, Andy Carol made it three goals in three games as he scored the first goal in West Ham’s 2-0 win over Leicester.
