Buhari To Famous Village Headmaster’s ‘Okoro’: You’ve Paid Your Due At 77

President Muhammadu Buhari has commended a veteran actor, Jimmy Johnson, popularly known in the acting world as Okoro, especially in the famous village Headmaster soap opera on the Nigeria Television, for the great role he had played for the upliftment of film industry in Nigerian.
Buhari who sent a congratulatory message to Jimmy Johnson, as he clocks 77 years tomorrow, January 11, extolled his exceptional talent, skills and versatility
According to the President in a statement by his special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, the veteran actor’s sterling performances in the Village Headmaster, the Citizens and other soap operas, had earned him reputation and recognition at both national and international levels.
Buhari, who felicitated with the Nollywood family and media industry on this feat of the ace entertainer, presenter and comedian, acknowledged that the septuagenarian’s contribution to the movie industry, which ranks second in the world, remains indelible.
He said that this is particularly so now that actors playing major roles in national and global development.
He described ‘Okoro’ as one of the pioneers of TV drama in Nigeria and a respected thespian.
President Buhari commended Johnson for the sacrifice, patriotism and loyalty to his country and his calling, “starting out early on stage and the screen when rewards were very minimal, but pursuing his career with relentless passion and vigour.” [myad]
