The United States of America has advised Nigerians not to break the electoral law by announcing the result of the Saturday’s February 23 Presidential election before the electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) does the announcement.
In a statement by the US Ambassador to Nigeria, W. Stuart Symington, the US said: “no one should break the law by announcing results before INEC does, or break the peace by claiming victory before the results are final.
“Everyone has a common interest in showing patience as INEC collates and announces the election results.”
The US congratulated the tens of millions of Nigerians who stood patiently in long lines to vote and the hundreds of thousands who worked together with INEC to conduct the elections.
“As noted by many observer groups in their preliminary reports, this election was predominantly peaceful, and it was proof of the Nigerian people’s resolute commitment to choose their leaders. “The peaceful achievement of millions was shadowed by the violence of a few. “We extend our deepest sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives, and we urge all candidates to honor the Peace Accord they signed. All should convince those who support them to refrain from using force or violence to interfere with INEC.”
President Muhammadu Buhari, the Presidential candidate Of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) is in the early lead in the last Saturday’s February 23 Presidential election across Nigeria.

President Buhari departs Daura Katsina State, Arrives Abuja after the Presidential and National Assembly Elections on 25th Feb 2019
President Muhammadu Buhari has said that he is patiently waiting for the results of the Saturday, February 23 Presidential election from the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC).
The president, who returned to Abuja today, Monday from his Daura, Katsina State country home where he cast his vote, told newsmen that he would not like to depend on rumours.
“I don’t want to depend on rumours, but we will rather wait for INEC to announce the results.”
Buhari expressed happiness that his government was able to provide adequate resources and logistics, including security for Nigerians to cast their votes “for whichever party and candidates they wanted.”
When arrogance is your wings, no matter how high you fly, your end would always be a crash landing. Bukola Saraki just crash-landed in Kwara with a fractured skull. Ó Tó Gé has defeated their o tun ya and the whole state is now singing Ó Tó Ópe (worthy of gratitude).
Those who claimed without them President Buhari wouldn’t have won the 2015 general elections, in 2019, without all of them, Muhammadu Buhari Olowori Oko Aisha Muhammadu Buhari just won his re-election while they all lost theirs. Now we know who is who.
Now we know who truly won the 2015 general elections for Buhari, now we are better informed that Saraki is an empty barrel that makes the loudest noise, now we know that President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, is the winner of his own victories, the Phenomena, the Movement that helps others to the next level.
Those pupils in political kindergarten who want to teach their political grandfather the encyclopedia of politics have just failed ordinary 4-+4 continuous assessment test, Saraki was just schooled by those he dared to disrespect.
The Buhari he described as ‘dull and weak’ just proved to be more intelligent and stronger, the Asiwaju, he wanted to teach politics just retired him from it, prematurely. Abdulrasaq Abdulrahman he called ‘novice’ and ‘nocturnal’ politician just brought him out naked in broad daylight to wander in cold winter, Dr. Ibrahim Oloriegbe, the man he called ‘underdog and inconsequential’ just showed him the consequences of looking down on other people, what an irony?
The lousy neighbour has just be gagged for life, the ‘undefeatable’ has just been badly defeated, wounded and demystified.
I have always said that Saraki is overrated, he is not as smart, intelligent or on-ground as he would want us to believe. Only gullible people would see him as a lion that roars while indeed, he is just a cat that can’t even meow. The only tiny rope that sustained him this long was the gullibility mentality of a few people and the mental construction of his infallibility. Kwara people just found him to be a feather weight and have thrown him into the dustbin of nemesis.
Let me repeat, our Creator is a jealous God, He doesn’t like anyone share his powers with Him, He doesn’t delegate His powers and authorities, He does not like when a mortal acts like Him, no man born of a woman is infallible, arrogance is not a gum to sustenance of Allah’s blessings, humility and kindness to fellow beings are the key to eternal sustenance. This is a lesson to all.
Thank God Bukola Saraki is now history and thank God I’m part of the freedom fighters that made this history. I’m eternally honoured.
Kwarans just showed Saraki that it has never been him but us and we have taken back what rightfully belongs to us.
Congratulations to all well-meaning Kwarans for a successful freedom fight, may the state be better for it, Amin.
A Nigerian pastor, who was preaching in public in the United Kingdom, has been arrested by the police for public disturbance.
The man, whose name was not immediately known, was seen dragging with the police men, telling them to repent.
When the police men approached the preacher, they first offered him the option of going away and desist from disturbing the public peace but the preacher ignored them.
The police officers warned that they may be forced to arrest him if he insisted and the preacher told them: “I can be arrested if you want…You better even make your life to belong to Jesus Christ.”
When one of the police officers asked him what he was doing, he responded: “I am preaching” and the police officer asked him to go away, else he would be arrested for breach of peace, but the preacher questioned: “what breach of peace” and insisted he would not go away voluntarily.
The police men thereafter handcuff him and took him away.
Bangladesh commandoes shot and killed a suspected hijacker who had tried to enter the cockpit of a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight today, Sunday, forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing.
The hijacker, who told the pilot he had a personal issue with his wife and wanted to speak to Bangladesh’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, died when the commandos stormed the plane at Chittagong’s Shah Amanat International Airport.
Major General S M Motiur Rahman of the Bangladesh Army said: “we tried to arrest him or get him to surrender but he refused and then we shot him.”.
Before the commandos moved in, all 142 passengers and most of the crew had been let off the aircraft unharmed. One crew member had been kept as a hostage, the officials said.
Air Vice Marshal Nayeem Hasan, chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, said the man appeared to have a pistol and had explosives around his body. It was not immediately clear if the pistol or the explosives were real.
The man appeared to be in his 20s, was probably Bangladeshi as he was speaking Bangla, but his identity was not yet clear, the officials said.

The acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu has warned Nigerians against announcing the results of the just concluded Presidential and parliamentary election across the country.
He made it clear that under the law, only the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is authorized to announce election results
The police boss stressed that those, especially the social media users, who engage in unlawful announcement and dissemination of election results are doing so at their own risk, adding that they should be ready to face the consequences of their actions.
In a statement today, Sunday, by the Force spokesman, Frank Mba, the Inspector General said that as at today, a total of 128 persons have been arrested across the country for various electoral offences ranging from homicide-related crimes, vote trading, ballot box snatching, impersonation, malicious damage, amongst others.
According to him, 38 assorted weapons and a cache of explosives have been recovered, even as he has directed the Special Election Investigation Team (SEIT) to immediately commence discrete investigation of all security related infractions during the election and ensure that all persons found culpable are brought to book in accordance with the law.
The police boss expressed deep concern over continuous use of hateful and inflammatory comments capable of inciting Nigerians against one another, especially by politicians and their followers.
He warned that while the Force is not in the business of censoring Nigerians or abridging their constitutional rights of freedom of speech, it will not hesitate to rein in the full wrath of the law on any person(s) found wanting in this regard.
A foreign observer group, the West Africa Network for Peace-building (WANEP) has recommended regular updates on the collation process in the just concluded Presidential electon across Nigeria as a way of assuring the public of the transparency of the process.
Giving a Situation Room report today, Saturday shortly after the end of the voting, WANEP noted the commencement of voting on time in most polling stations across the country.
In the report, read by co-chair , Ms. Aisha Ado Abdullahi WANEP said however, that there were reported late opening of polls in several stations due to late arrival of polling officials and materials, saying that in some cases, as at 10:00 am, materials were yet to be distributed to areas such as Gwagwalada Area Council of FCT and Mashi LGA of Katsina State.
“In an isolated case, the absence of security personnel at Shehu Manzo ward of Gombe LGA, Gombe State resulted in delay of the commencement of polls.
“Card readers were not functioning appropriately in some stations visited for example, in Ward 4, PU 002 at St. Jonathan in Ondo State; and also Yardole Kasuwa area of Kebbi State, but the technicians addressed the situation. Concerns abound over the disenfranchisement of eligible voters due to technical issues experienced with the use of card readers.
“Observers noted the inducement of voters in Kumbotso LGA of Kano State and Konshisha LGA of Benue State, where voters were reportedly seen receiving money from party stalwarts to vote their preferred candidates.
“Key violent incidents reported include shooting in Ayingba, Dekina LGA of Kogi State; fighting in Ward 18 Khana, Port Harcourt, Rivers State following alleged snatching of voting materials.
“Despite the late commencement of polls in affected areas, voters reportedly conducted themselves peacefully and orderly, except in a few cases where isolated violent incidents occurred.”
On the voting Process, WANEP noted moderate voter turnout in polling stations visited. They also observed orderliness and the compliance with voting procedures by polling officials in most polling stations.
According to it, voting materials were reported to be sufficient in most polling stations. However, ballot papers were insufficient for the number of registered voters in some polling stations.
The observers also reported the absence of senatorial ballot boxes at Karji LEA primary school, a situation that instigated some tension. However, voting proceeded without the senatorial ballot papers.
“Voting materials arrived quite late in some polling stations such as Ward 8, PU 009 of Osun Central where voting commenced at 2:35 pm. However, as at the time of official closing of 2pm, voting materials were yet to arrive some polling stations.
“Observers reported at least 31 major incidents including the following:
In Borno and Yobe states, armed attacks and explosions were reported in some locations.
In Lagos State, observers reported the intimidation of voters at several polling stations in Okota, Aguda, Alimosho and Oshodi/Isolo LGA; as well as burning of ballot boxes in ward 018 in Ago Palace Way and 023 Baba Ewe area in Okota LGA. Ballot boxes were reportedly snatched by suspected political thugs, who chased voters away in PU 036 of Obisanya street, Mafoluku, Oshodi LGA. People of a certain ethnic group were reportedly turned away from voting in a polling station in Banwo Street, Aguda area of Surulere; those who were allowed to vote were followed to the polling booth to see whom they voted for.
“In Kogi State, a 19-year old boy was killed at PU 006 Ajetachi in Ayangba Kogi State over refusal to vote for a party. Ballot boxes were burnt in Okesi ward of Ogori/Magongo LGA.
“In Akwa Ibom State, polling officials were reportedly abducted and election materials destroyed in Itu LGA; and ballot boxes were also reportedly snatched by political thugs in Ini LGA.
“In Rivers State, election materials were seized at Wards 4 and 12 of Ikwerre LGA amid heavy shooting. The former Chairman of PDP in Rivers State was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Andoni LGA. Electoral materials were also hijacked for 14 out of 16 wards at Gokana LGA.
“In Zamfara State, election materials were reportedly destroyed in PU 004 of Madawaki ward, a situation that disrupted the voting process. In response, the police fired sporadic gunshots to disperse suspected thugs and moved the election materials to the central police station.
“In Yobe State, a 35-year old man was shot by military men of 223 Brigade Command, Buni Gari, Gujba LGA at 8:30am and died by 1:00pm.
“In Delta State, PU 005 of ward 2 was moved to a secondary school. The gates of the school were locked, preventing observers and voters from gaining entry to the premises. However, members of a particular political party were allegedly allowed entry.
“WANEP recognizes and appreciates the diverse interventions undertaken by key stakeholders especially INEC to resolve lapses in the voting process as well as deployment of security officials to contain violent incidents and restore normalcy in affected areas. However, in view of the delayed arrival of materials in some polling stations as well as increasing reported violence, there is need for concerted and reinforced effort to ensure the prevention and mitigation of violence during the counting and collation processes as well as in the aftermath of the announcement of results. In this regard, WANEP makes the following recommendations to ensure the promotion of peace and stability in the remaining process:
“INEC should regularly provide updates on the collation process to assure the public of the transparency of the process.
“WANEP condemns violence reported and calls on security agencies to reinforce security in affected areas but also in other areas to prevent and mitigate potential violence that may arise.
“Security agencies should maintain utmost professionalism in the discharge of their duties and assure the electorate of their commitment to maintaining law and order throughout the process.
“WANEP calls on the Security agencies to investigate reported incidents of explosions on election day as it is critical for developing contingency plans for future elections.
“Candidates and Political parties should abide by the Peace Accord and refrain from inflammatory statements or publication of results and all acts that are capable of instigating violence as we await the official announcement of results by INEC.”
Here are many of the results compiled from polling units as they were announced publicly at each units before they were dispatched to Ward units, and onward delivery to Local Governments and then States before they are all converged at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

How Saraki Was Crushed In Kwara, By Ishaq Modibbo Kawu
