National Coordinator, Buhari Campaign Organization (BCO), Alhaji Danladi Pasali has insisted that Muhammadu Buhari will be compelled by the organization to contest the 2019 for his second term in office.
Alhaji Danladi Pasali, who spoke in Bauchi today, Saturday while inaugurating BCO North-East Zonal Secretariat and officials that would run the affairs of the secretariat said: “we will mobilize the masses of this country to compel President Buhari to re-contest during the 2019 general election since he had fulfilled most of his campaign promises, particularly in areas of security, war against corruption and revamping of the economy.
“We will secure endorsements for re-election bid of Buhari from various groups across the country. We will pressurize him to re-contest to enable him consolidate on his achievements and ensure that the corruption fight is irreversible.
“We will work with other like-minded groups and the APC to secure President Buhari’s party nomination and victory in the general elections.”
The Coordinator said that the organization would use all media platforms and billboards to highlight details of Buhari’s achievements in order to mobilize supports for the re-election of the president in all the 36 states of the country.
He called on Nigerians, both within and those in the Diaspora, to support the organization and ensure that the president excel both during the party’s primaries and the general elections.
While swearing-in the chairmen of the six states within the North-East Geo-political Zone, the national coordinator called on them to work tirelessly to ensure that President Buhari was re-elected in 2019.
He noted that all the legacies Buhari had made would be ruined if he was not re-elected.

The new South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa has asked the citizens of the country to get set for what he called tough decisions that will be taken by his government to move the country forward.
In what was considered a sober address to the nation yesterday, Friday that sought to draw a line under the turbulent rule of his predecessor, Jacob Zuma, the new helmsman said: “tough decisions have to be made to close our fiscal gap, stabilize our debt and restore our state-owned enterprises to health.”
President Ramaphosa who promised to make job creation a priority in 2018 also promised to fight corruption, which had weakened the state-owned enterprises in Africa’s most industrialized economy, and to trim a bloated cabinet.
He said that his government is committed to what he called “policy certainty and consistency,” in contrast to Zuma, who was criticized for policy shifts and unpredictable cabinet changes that rocked domestic financial markets and confounded investors.
The 65-year-old President, who was sworn in on Thursday after Zuma reluctantly resigned on orders of the ANC, declared: “this is the year in which we will turn the tide of corruption in our public institutions.
“We are determined to build a society defined by decency and integrity, that does not tolerate the plunder of public resources, nor the theft by corporate criminals of the hard-earned savings of ordinary people.
South Africa’s rand rallied soon after Ramaphosa started his address, trading near its three-year best.
Financial markets have rallied since Ramaphosa took over from Zuma as ANC leader in December, as investors warmed to his pledges to woo overseas investment.
He thanked Zuma for the way he had approached recent events even as he called on the party supporters to avoid alienating ANC members that are still loyal to the 75-year-old former president.
In a direct appeal to poorer black voters who are the core of the ANC’s support, President Ramaphosa said that he would aim to speed up the transfer of land to black people.
The new President said that he would pursue a policy of “radical economic transformation” that will speed up expropriation of land without compensation, but said this should be done in a way that increases agricultural production and improves food security.
A notorious South-West assassin, Adeola Williams alias Ade Lawyer, has confessed how he was being hired by big men to kill their enemies. He confessed that he killed about four persons for the former Lagos State Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Akanni Olohunwa, at different occasions.
The suspect also confessed that he had killed for many people in the state, among who are traditional rulers and that he was sent by Olohunwa to kill one Kunle Poly.
According to Williams, he had known Olohunwa since he was the NURTW chairman in Lagos.
“I have carried out many killings for him, during the clash between him and Musiliu Akinsanya, alias MC, I killed two people for him. On this present one, he contacted me to kill Kunle Poly that he betrayed him.
“Olohunwa told me he brought Kunle Poly into NURTW and there is money he is entitled to as ex-chairman but they were not giving him the money anymore, claiming that it was Kunle Poly that was blocking the money from getting to him from their office at Abule-Egba.
“He then said as a result of that, he does not want to see Kunle Poly, he asked me to come and meet him somewhere to discuss, but I told him I don’t have a car, he personally drove to where I was at Igbosere area to discuss with me on how to carry out the operation.
“He called me on his phone and I went to meet him in his car; that was how we discussed on how to carry out the attack on Kunle Poly.
“While I was about going out of his car he gave me N500,000 as part payment and promised to give me the remaining N1 million as agreed.
“After he had given me the money, he said he did not want to know about the operation, that was why he came to me personally. And I assured him that nobody would hear about the killing.
“We were supposed to carry out the operation on Tuesday, January 22, but we shifted it to the following day. We missed our target which is Kunle Poly but killed his aide Ganiyu Ayinla on the fateful day. Immediately, I called Olohunwa on phone to inform him about the development. Because I missed the target, he started behaving strangely to me whenever I called him. I later called him with my private line but told me he did not want to talk anybody and I told him not to be afraid, that whatever happened had happened, that he should come out to face it.
“When he said he did not want to talk to anybody, I told him he’s going to pay me my balance. I was surprised when he sent his brother to give me a Toyota Camry car and I told his brother that I don’t need that, that what I need is Hyundai jeep and he went to bring it to me.
“His brother, who brought the jeep, said Olohunwa promised to settle me after which he would collect the car and the car has been with me for about three weeks now.”
When asked how many people he had killed for Olohunwa, Williams said: “I have killed four persons for him. I also killed for one Kazeem Eletu and Olumegbon.”
Olohunwa, on his part, said: “The N500,000 I gave to Williams was not part-payment to kill Kunle Poly. There was a time when I was travelling to Ede, in Osun State, he called me that he had accident along Lagos-Ibadan expressway and he was disturbing my boy that they should tell me to do something for him.
“I did not do anything for him, I travelled to England. While abroad he was sending threatening messages to me that if I fail to give him he would kill me and my family members.
“When I came back, I called one of my boys to explain what was happening to him, that my boy said we should give him something because he’s a troublesome person. That was how I gave that my boy N500,000 so as to have some respite.
“I did not give him my car; it was my brother who gave him the car. I did not send my brother. I was sleeping when my son and one of my brothers came to wake me up that brother Skoda had given my car to Williams.
“Immediately my brother gave him my car, I was looking for who to contact so as to retrieve it. And it was then I knew William was afraid of one person which is Abija that was how I called the said Abija and he promised to get it back for me that I have to be patient.
“What made me fear Williams most was when about nine people were coming from Ajah to the Island and the nine of them were shot dead by him and he also killed a branch chairman of NURTW at Oyingbo. With these two scenarios, I have been afraid of him since then.”
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, who paraded the suspects at the command’s headquarters, said that they were arrested based on a confessional statement of other suspects arrested.
Edgal said on January 23, about 9pm, one Ganiyu Ayinla was killed by unknown gunmen on Lagos Island, while one Azeez Adekunle alias Kunle Poly a branch chairman of National Union escaped death.
He said based on the strength of the complaints, Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris directed the Commander Intelligence Respons Team, ACP Abba Kyari, to apprehend the hoodlums. With the credible intelligence generated with the support from Technical Intelligence Unit one Adeola Williams alias Ade Lawyer was arrested in connection with the crime.
“He confessed that one Rafiu Olohunwa Akanni former chairman of NURTW contracted him with the sum of N1.5 million to assassinate Kunle Poly. One AK47 rifle with number 3501357, two empty magazines, one black Hyundai Santafee Jeep with registration number EKY 741DL seized from Olohunwa was recovered from him.”
The CP, however, said the investigation is ongoing, while effort is on to arrest the fleeing suspects.
President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed pride on the leading role which the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has been playing in its 30 years of existence in Nigeria.
In a message to felicitate with the management and staff of the Corps as it celebrates 30 years of its establishment, Buhari said: “the recent United Nation’s commendation of Nigeria’s road safety action plan, affirms the Federal Road Safety Corps’ leading role not only in West Africa but the entire African continent.”
He commended the vision of its founding fathers in February 1988 in response to the unacceptable level of road crashes in the country even as he expressed that after three decades of operations, the Corps had reduced road crashes from an alarming 40,881 in 1976 to 5,993 in 2016 and 4,418 in 2017.
He lauded the significant reduction in the emergency response time of the Corps from 50 to 15 minutes to accident scenes on the nation’s highways.
The President commended the FRSC’s deployment of international best practices and use of technology in its uniform licensing scheme, tracking, vehicle plate numbering and other services.
Buhari pledged that his government will continued to support the FRSC to enable the organization achieve the goal of United Nations Decade of Action on Road Safety of 50 per cent fatality reduction by 2020, thereby placing Nigerian roads among the league of 20 global safest roads by the target year.
The President emphasized that road safety is a shared responsibility of everyone, even as he advised the FRSC to intensify its public education role.
He also advised other government and private organizations as well as members of the public to support the FRSC to further make road travels safer and more pleasurable.
The Lagos branch of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has expressed strong opposition to the election of Rt. Rev. Humphrey Olumakaiye as the new Bishop of Lagos, alleging that huge amount of money exchanged hand to influence his election.
A statement issued in Lagos at the weekend and signed by one Mr. Ade Doherty on behalf of members of the church and who claimed to be aggrieved over the said election, said that it was stage-managed and not influenced by the Holy Spirit and as such unacceptable.
The statement reads: “The so-called election of Olumakaiye at the recent conference of Bishops in Ilorin was a clear manipulation of the House of Bishops who were “teleguided” by both Ademowo and The Primate, the Most Revd. (Dr.) Nicholas Okoh.
“Of course, we have it on good authority that huge sums of money exchanged hands to facilitate the so-called election of Olumakaiye and majority of our members in Lagos stand united in opposition to this mischief. It is a charade and can never stand.”
They also claimed that such action by the House of Bishops was a way of trying to elongate the tenure of Ademowo even as it was alleged that he (Ademowo), in order to perfect the election manipulation, facilitated a multi-million Naira house for Primate Okoh in the Lekki area of Lagos.
They made references to Ademowo’s earlier statements and actions, they claimed, put paid to Olumakaiye’s emergence.
The aggrieved members further stated that their solicitors had prepared a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe the alleged acquisition of the said Lekki property, the financial inducements in the House of Bishops, and the alleged porous accounts of the Lagos Diocese and women organizations in the Lagos Diocese, which they alleged was the reason “the succession at all costs is taking place.”
It would be recalled that during the recent Episcopal Synod of the Church in Ilorin, Kwara State, the leadership of the church in a statement by its General Secretary, Rt. Rev. (Dr.) Ayodeji Fagbemi, announced that a number of new Bishops and ArchBishops had been elected.
The Rt Rev. Olumakaiye, according to the statement, would be transiting from the Diocese of Osun North East to Lagos.

National Chairman of the National Rescue Movement (NRM), Senator Sa’idu Dansadau has said that the party will not field any politician considered to have stolen Nigerian money in the past to contest the 2019 elections.
Senator Dansadau, who was addressing supporters of the party in Kano today, Saturday asked Nigerians not to vote for corrupt politicians in the general elections in 2019.
According to him, there is need for Nigerians to avoid politicians who do not have the interest of the country at heart but are only interested in amassing public funds through corrupt practices.
He said that any politician or political office holder found to have stolen N1 billion should be considered as an insane because no sensible person will steal such a huge amount of money and claim to be a leader.
He called on Kano people to embrace the new party in view of its good policies and programmes that are meant to improve the living standard of Nigerians, especially the common man.
“Kano people should lead other Nigerians in accepting and embracing the party. Only people who have strong faith in God will embrace NPM.“
The National Chairman said that the party would give priority attention to youths in view of the fact that, if given the necessary mentorship, they would take the country to great heights.
He expressed appreciation over the large turnout of the party members at the meeting despite the short notice and commended them for propagating the ideals of the party in the state.
He said the essence of the visit was to meet with traditional rulers, religious and community leaders as well as other stakeholders to explain the ideals of the party.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has made it clear that he never regretted what he did as military Head of State and later as democratically elected President of Nigeria even as he admitted that he was not perfect.
“Is there anything I would have wanted to do with the resources that I had, with the knowledge that I had when I was in government, with facilities that I had that I did not do? I would say no. “Now If I had more resources there are things I would have done differently. But with what I had at the time that I had at my disposal and some of the people who worked with me are here, I did all the things I believe are humanly possible for me to do. Now mind you, I did not say that I was perfect, I would never say that, only God is perfect. I did not have any regret when I was in government.”
Obasanjo, who answered questions from students of the Ijaw National Academy (INA) Kaiama at the school auditorium as part of activities lined up for his two day working visit to Bayelsa, said however that as long as he is alive, he would not keep his mouth shut whenever he sees things or anything going wrong in Nigeria even as he admitted that Nigeria has hope of advancing to the next level.
“If Nigeria does not have hope I would find a rope and commit suicide immediately because then what am I living for? I am an incurable optimist in Nigeria. Nigeria has hope. There are many things we should have done as we should have done them. There is no doubt about that. But that does not mean Nigeria does not have hope.
“Look, hope is what drives any human being. A person without hope is like a person without life. How can I therefore say that Nigeria has no hope? Nigeria has hope and you are part of the hope of Nigeria.
“You asking me that question heighten my conviction that Nigeria has hope. This country in spite of our difficulties, we have hope.
“I just came back from Rome and while there I asked the Ambassador what his major problems are and he told me that there are 1,600 Nigerians in Italian prisons, that is a problem but we shouldn’t because of that say that there is no hope for Nigeria.
“No, I won’t say that. I would say that we have a problem that we have to address and if we don’t address that problem we are postponing the evil day. That doesn’t mean that Nigeria has no hope. Never lose hope. If you lose hope you lose everything. Great hope because of you and great hope because
Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State has alleged that his administration gave security agencies 24 hour head-start to alert them on the impending invasion of communities in Zamfara by bandits that resulted in the death of 39 persons in Zurmi local government area of the state on Wednesday night.
Speaking today, Friday, when he led five Northern Governors on a sympathy visit to the palace of the Emir of Zurmi, Governor Yari said that security agencies in the area have failed to tackle the problem of cross border banditry and terrorism bedeviling communities in the area.
“Whatever humanly possible that needed to be done, we as a government have done to mitigate this disaster. But it does appear that security agencies are failing in their responsibilities.
“I feel let down facing the people of this state whenever I remember the promise I made to them that when they elect President Muhammadu Buhari into power, these killings will end. But unfortunately, things are now getting worse.
“As such, I urge you security agencies to up the ante so as not to lose this war. If you let us take issues on our hands, anarchy will reign which is not what we hope for.
“On this particular incidence, we had intelligence reports 24 hours before it happened that the bandits were grouping and ready to attack. I alerted the security agencies but unfortunately they sent inadequate personnel to confront these people from where they came from.”
The Emir of Zurmi, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar responded by echoing what Governor Yari said, adding that if not for the bravery of vigilante groups who confronted the bandits, the casualty figures would have been higher.
Giving insight into what really happened, the Emir alleged that 600 bandits made attempt to invade Zurmi but were repelled by vigilantes.
“They came on 200 motorcycles with three persons on each bike. Each of them was well-armed. We stationed 500 vigilante members who stood their ground and gallantly fought the bandits. Unfortunately, these same bandits turned their anger on travelers and other villagers on their way here; that was why we had 39 people killed.
“These terrorists are known to us. Their major hide-out is in a village called Kagara, very close to Bafarawa in Sokoto State, and a few kilometers from Shinkafi in Zamfara State. But despite several appeal to security agencies to storm the area, our appeals have failed.
“I need to state here that majority of weapons used by bad people in this country are brought in from this area. I had reason to personally inform Zamfara State Director of SSS sometimes back of a large cache of weapons being brought into the country but no concrete action was taken until the containers were moved away.
“I am happy that other Northern Governors are here because we believe the solution to this problem lies in cooperation among all of you.
“I don’t need to repeat here that we need a full battalion of soldiers here and in areas surrounding Maru, Maradun, Shinkafi and Zurmi LGAs,” the visibly angry Emir said.
He added that the people have been pushed to the limit and a negative reaction from them will have devastating consequence on the continued peaceful coexistence of all communities in the area.
In his remarks, Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State appealed to the people not to lose patience even as he sympathized with the victims and prayed to God to grant the deceased eternal rest.
In addition to Shettima and Yari, other Governors on the entourage were Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State and Umar Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State.
President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed disgust over yesterday, Thursday’s massacre of innocent persons in Birane village, Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The President, who condemned what he called: ‘the heinous and inhuman attacks on defenceless citizens which left many injured, sympathized with families of victims.
This was even as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar also condemned the massacre in which scores of innocent people were forced out of their vehicles and brutally killed by unknown bandits
President Buhari has already directed security agencies to immediately mobilize and deploy their members to the vulnerable areas of the state, and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to face the full wrath of the law.
The President assured the Zamfara State government, victims of the mayhem and residents in the state, that the Federal Government will continue do all it takes to support security agencies to secure lives and property, not only in the affected state but all parts of the country.
He restated his administration’s determination to put an end to the spate of senseless spilling of innocent blood in parts of the country, and calls for restraint to allow the nation’s security apparatus to stem the undesirable trend.
That was even as Atiku Abubakar described the spate of killings in Rivers, Kaduna and Benue as appalling, adding that the continued large scale destruction of human lives by criminal groups is unacceptable. Atiku Abubakar expressed concern on the frequency of these hideous attacks by criminal gangs, saying that the ease with which criminal groups have access to dangerous weapons in the country is worrisome and disturbing. “When human beings are falling like flies repeatedly, ambushed by savage mass murderers and killed in cold blood, I wonder what becomes of the sanctity of life.” Atiku Abubakar called for greater vigilance and stricter enforcement of ban on the proliferation small arms and other deadly weapons in the hands of criminals. “Apart from identifying, arresting and prosecuting arms suppliers, there should be an intensification of efforts by our security personnel”. He extended his condolences and prayers to the Government of Zamfara State and families of the victims.
Meanwhile, the Zamfara State Police command has thrown light on the incident that occurred in Zurmi LGA that led to the killing of many people on February 13.
In a statement from the command said that the hunters from Birani village of Zurmi LGA had intercepted and accosted a herder in the bush with some suspected stolen cattle and sheep.
It said that the herder abandoned the animals and escaped into the bush, unknown to the hunters that the cattle rustler had gonet to Isah LGA of sokoto state to mobilise bandits to attack the hunters. “Therefore, on 14th February, 2018, the bandits ambushed the hunters in the bush and there was a clash that led to fatality from both sides. Police/Military and other sister agencies who reacted by combing the bush and it’s environs to salvage the situation discovered 18 death bodies. While it is believed that the bandits took away their own persons that were killed. Meanwhile, bush combing is in progress so as to further profile the area. “Mobile men/ Special forces and Military fortified the affected axis. The Command intelligence unit in conjunction with State CID are investigating the matter to arrest the perpetrators of this dastardly act.” The command promised, in the statement signed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mohammed Shehu, to provide more information as the events unfold.
