The Service, in recent times, has issued a series of palliatives for the waivers of penalties and interest on outstanding taxes arising from desk examinations, audit exercises, investigations or all other forms of tax assessment.

However, the Service has observed that some taxpayers are yet to take advantage of the palliative windows opened to cushion the effect of the challenges of the economy on taxpayers.

Furthermore, the Service wishes to put all taxpayers on notice that the last window of opportunity for the waiver of outstanding penalties and interest on all taxes collectible by the Federal Inland Revenue Service shall close on 31st December 2020.

Consequently, all concerned taxpayers are hereby put on notice that after the expiration date of 31st December 2020, the Service shall recover all outstanding debt with penalties and interest, in accordance with the provisions of the extant tax laws such as “the power of substitution” conferred on it by Section 31 of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (Establishment) Act 2007.

Boko Haram Attacks: There Is International Conspiracy To Divide Nigeria, Army Lament

Colonel Sagir Musa

The Nigerian Army has said that the Boko Haram attacks are parts of the international conspiracy to divide and to destabilize the peace of the country.

“There is an international conspiracy to cut Nigeria to size and compromise national renegades making attempts to destabilize and dismember Nigeria if possible in subservience to the international paymasters; who are the owners of Boko Haram. They train them, arm them, finance them and supply their logistics.

“Without this treacherous international support of Boko Haram; they would have since been defeated. Yet, we can defeat them through our unity and unflinching support and encouragement of our security forces, particularly the military.”

The Acting Director of the Army Public Relations, Colonel Sagir Musa, in an article he shared on social media and with journalists insisted that there are some international paymasters sponsoring Boko Haram.

The army spokesman said: “the recent killing of our people on a rice farm in Borno State was unexpected, inhuman, cowardly, dastardly and sadistic cruelty by the Boko Haram terrorists. There is no normal human being that will take pleasure in such inhuman massacre of defenceless and armless civilians, working on their farms; but that is the nature of terrorism and those who sponsor it.”

I keep My Distance From Gani Adams Because Of His Past Life – Obasanjo

Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo

“I have no quarrel with Gani Adams, but for his past way of life which was not in accord with my standards and principles. I have in the past, both in government and out of government, refused to grant Gani’s request to visit me.”

These were the words of the former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo while reacting to the rumour of bad blood between him and Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Chief Gani Adams, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi,

Obasanjo made it clear that he happened to meet Gani Adams in the residence of the chieftain of the Pan Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, at his home in Lekki, Lagos yesterday, December 2, but that the meeting with the Aare Onakakanfo at the Afenifere chieftain’s residence was not on a reconciliatory mission.

The ex-President stressed that he had continued to refuse to grant Gani Adams’ request to visit him when he was president and after he left the office in 2007, saying however that it does not mean that he is quarreling with the Aare Onakakanfo.

“If at all anybody feels I have a quarrel with him or her that needs reconciliation, such reconciliation will, no doubt, take place in my residence in Abeokuta only.”
