According to sources in the affected tertiary institutions, the lecturers are complaining that the fuel price increase had led to those who are doing photocopying of the papers to also increase their prices.
It was gathered that a hand-out that was sold to students before at N1,000 now goes for N1,500 whereas a text book that used to be sold at N2,000 is now being sold at between N2,500 and N3,000.
It was learnt that many lecturers have made it compulsory for students to buy their hand-outs and books, using it as part of the condition for students to pass their courses. [myad]
