Task Force, Board Impound 32 Cows, 38 Sheep, Prosecute 16 Herdsmen In Abuja

cattle-invade-abuja-fctThe Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Task Force Team on Environmental Sanitation have impounded 32 cows, 38 sheep and prosecuted 16 herdsmen that owned the animals. They were charged in the Sanitation Mobile Court and were summarily convicted.
The enforcers of the law which bans grazing of cattle in the capital city made the arrest and seizures of the animals within a week of their operations.
A statement by the chief spokesman of the FCT, Muhammad Hazat Sule said that the AEPB and the Task Force Team tendered the impounded cows and sheep as exhibit to secure the conviction of the arrested herdsmen.
He said that the exercise was carried out in compliance to the directive of the Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello. He had directed the AEPB and the Task Force Team on Environment to stop forthwith the grazing of cattle within Abuja metropolis.
He said that those who were arrested have already been made to pay various fines to serve as a deterrent to others. [myad]
