Failure of local suppliers to meet demand has forced the Dangote Petroleum Refinery to now buy 12 million barrels of crude oil from United States for its refinery operations. Report coming from the giant refinery in Lagos said that lack of local supply has hindered the new $20 billion refinery to reach full refining capacity. Recall that the refinery had earlier scheduled to reach its 650,000 barrels per day capacity in June this year, 2025. Sources said that low local crude supply from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has however posed special challenge to the attainment of the schedule. They said that the 12 million barrels of crude has already left the United States and will land in Nigeria next month. According to the news from African Report, quoting an inside source: “About 12 million barrels of crude have departed the US and should arrive in Nigeria by February.” Dangote Petroleum Refinery is said to be importing more crude oil as supply from the NNPC becomes insufficient for fuel production at the $20 billion Lekki-based facility. Officials at the plant said that the facility has ramped up production to about 500,000 barrels per day, with the target of hitting the 650,000bpd mark by June this year. The NNPC is reportedly struggling to supply 350,000bpd to the Dangote refinery from the 450,000bpd crude meant for Nigeria’s local consumption. With its current production capacity of 500,000bpd, officials said there is a need to look beyond the shores of Nigeria for the feedstock. It was said that the feedstock needed by the refinery daily cannot be solely supplied by the state-owned oil company, NNPC. In July 2024, President Bola Tinubu had ordered the NNPC to sell crude oil to local refineries in naira. According to the crude oil production forecast of producing oil companies and the refining requirement of functional refineries in Nigeria signed by the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, Gbenga Komolafe, the Dangote refinery would require 550,000 barrels of a blend of Nigerian crude oil daily, 17.05 million barrels monthly, and 99.55 million barrels between January and June 2025. The Dangote refinery is already building eight more tanks to store imported crude. The facility is planning to stockpile imported crude oil as local supplies become unreliable. Officials of the refinery were quoted as saying that low crude supply from the NNPC “is driving import dependence.” The building of eight additional tanks will see crude storage capacity at the refinery jump by 41.67 per cent to 3.4 billion litres. “Importing crude from other countries instead of buying locally means that our crude stockpiles will have to be higher,” the Vice President in charge of the oil and gas business at Dangote Industries, Devakumar Edwin, was quoted as having said recently. In May 2024, the refinery reportedly issued a term tender for the purchase of two million barrels of West Texas Intermediate Midland crude monthly for 12 months starting in July last year, amounting to 24 million barrels of crude in one year.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced key dates for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). According to JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the sale of forms will begin on January 31, 2025, and close on March 5, 2025. Professor Oloyede said that for direct entry candidates, the sale of application documents and e-PIN vending will begin on March 10, 2025, and end on April 7, 2025. He said that the mock UTME is scheduled for February 23, 2025, while the main UTME will occur on March 8, 2025 — just three days after registration ends and barely 6weeks from today. The Registrar said that candidates registering for UTME with a mock exam will pay ₦8,200, while those opting for UTME only (without the mock) will pay ₦7,200. A trial-testing mock, exclusively for underage candidates or those seeking Computer-Based Test (CBT) experience, will cost ₦5,700. Direct Entry candidates will also pay ₦5,700. Prof. Oloyede explained that a mock UTME has been introduced specifically for candidates below the age of 16, adding that the initiative is not for admission purposes but is intended to allow underage candidates to test their abilities in preparation for future exams. He emphasized that candidates must be at least 16 years old on or before September 30, 2025, to qualify for admission into universities, polytechnics, or colleges of education. “However, gifted candidates under 15 years may be considered if they score at least 280 in the UTME and perform exceptionally in their Senior Secondary Certificate and post-UTME examinations. The JAMB Registrar reiterated the enforcement of the 16-year age limit for the 2025 UTME registration, stressing that JAMB has faced legal challenges in the past regarding age requirements, leading to the adoption of 16 years as the minimum age for tertiary admissions. A previous attempt to raise the age limit to 18, announced by former Minister of Education Prof. Tahir Mamman, was reversed following public outcry. His successor, Dr. Tunji Alausa, suspended the 18-year benchmark in November 2024. Prof. Oloyede disclosed that 870 computer-based test (CBT) centers had been screened and provisionally listed for the 2025 UTME, compared to 747 centers in 2024. He also encouraged candidates not seeking immediate admission but wishing to familiarize themselves with the CBT format to register for the trial-testing mock exam. This year’s updates reflect JAMB’s commitment to improving the UTME process while maintaining adherence to age and academic performance standards for tertiary admissions. How to Score 300+ In 2025 JAMB Early Studies: Most students make the mistake of waiting till the wee hour before reading for examinations. That is a recipe for failure. It is said that those who fail to plan, plan to fail. This is true, in that, studying when the examination is at hand leads to little or no retention of knowledge and that can be detrimental to the outcome of the examination. Start reading and preparing for the examination months earlier. In fact it is advisable to start reading and studying before the commencement of the examination registration. Be aware of your capacity: we all have different learning capacities. Whereas there are people who can learn and grab something in two hours, others need eight hours of study to grab and understand the same thing. You must know and be sincere with yourself of the category you fall under and work towards it accordingly. If it takes you time to comprehend in class or while studying, start studying at a time that would allow you to cover all the materials you need before the time for the examination. This will help you in being more confident and ready for the examination. Furthermore, you should know your subject combination and work on the subject you’re not so good at. For instance, if you are looking to apply study Engineering in the higher institution, you would need to have mathematics as one of your subject combination. If you are a student who finds mathematics hard, dedicate more of your time to studying the mathematics. Practice it often to help you gain a mastery of it and ask questions where you’re confused. Join Study Groups: The importance of joining study groups or online classes can not be overemphasized. Thank God for technology and civilization which has made the world a global village. Find a tested and trusted tutorial group or online class that is keen on ensuring that students pass their examinations. A highly recommended group with highly effective tutors that can help you realise your dream school is the Allschool JAMB tutorials which is run yearly. This tutorial class has had many testimonies from students who were able to ace their examinations. Studying as a group helps in the sharing of information more effectively. Understand how JAMB Examination works: JAMB examination is not like other examinations like WAEC or NECO, JAMB has it’s own unique style and format which s a student needs to follow. Understanding the format for sitting for JAMB will enable you to works towards getting yourself acquainted with how the examination works. JAMB examinations are in form of Mutiple Choice Questions also know as MCQs. What this implies is that a question is asked and options are given with the expectations that students would choose or select the most appropriate option for the question. Practice Time Management: Most students fail to understand that, when it comes to JAMB examinations, they do not have the luxury of time. JAMB examination time is limited, they system is design in such a way that once a students logs in and begins, a timer is automatically activated. Once the time is up, irrespective of whether a student is done with he examination or not, such student will be logged out and that would be then end of the examination. There have been stories of many students who performed poorly in their UTME not because they didn’t know the answers to the questions, but because they didn’t have enough time to answer all the questions. Do not dwell so much on a particular question. Once you can remember the answer to a particular one, leave it and go to the next. After you’re done and you still have time on your side, you can the revisit the question and answer it. Note that all questions in JAMB carries equal marks. It’s therefore unwise to dwell so much on a particular question. Be knowledgeable in the use of computer gadgets: unlike the system before where UTMEs were written with pencil and paper, the UTME is now computer based and the examination is known as CBT (Computer Based Tests). As a student who intends to succeed in the examination, you need to be able to navigate around a computer. This will make it easier for you to answer questions and move to the next without delays. Students who are computer illiterate have had to complain in previous years of their inability to pass the UTME due to their lack of knowledge on how a computer works. You can avoid this by getting yourself equipped with the right knowledge on how to operate a computer. Eat Healthy: although this ordinarily does not sound like an academic advice, but eating healthy helps you to be in your best form. Do not study when you’re hungry, it is hard to comprehend anything in such a situation. Also ensure you have enough sleep to rest and calm your brain. Register and Arrive Early: Try to register for your UTME on time to avoid anxiety and uncertainty. Late registration can play with your mental health which can then result to poor performance even after doing all that has been listed above. Also make sure you are at your examination centre in tim for your examination. Going at least forty-five minutes earlier to the time given to you will be an ideal thing to do.
Over two hundred staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), including executives, who were forcefully disengaged in the name of rationalisation are now crying foul against the discriminatory manner in which the Cardoso led management is going about the exercise. The affected staff berated the CBN management for not coming up with the optional ‘early exit’ window for all staff to embrace as was later adopted but rather chose to humiliate them unjustly in flagrant disregard of the Bank’s human resources policy. They described the early exit programme as a welcome after thought, although it was viciously implemented without considering the negative impact on the system. The affected staff, in a petition, further said that the CBN must have lost most of its best hands in the areas of monetary policy, research, banking examination, communication, payment system development and strategy among others. The concerned staff advised those responsible for the central bank’s oversight to be watchful of the policies of the Bank as either forceful disengagement or early retirement of experienced staff portends serious gaps for such a strategic institution. The staff also questioned the claim by Muhammad Bala Bello, the Deputy Governor (Corporate Services) that the disengaged staff were retired and paid their full benefits, saying that some of them went home with negative account balances. They contended that their careers were abruptly terminated without justification or compliance with due process for the conduct of a restructuring / redundancy process as enshrined in the Central Bank of Nigeria Act and CBN Human Resources manual. Some of the affected staff, who spoke to journalists on condition of anonymity, said that the CBN management towed the line of discrimination from the beginning which has greatly impinged on their fundamental human rights, self esteem and caused untold hardship to their families and other dependants in addition to truncating their professional careers. They called on the CBN Management revisit their cases with good conscience and equity without further delay in order to be on the good side of history. The CBN is currently contending with scores of litigation at the National Industrial Court arising from decision of the Cardoso led management to disengage several staff abruptly between March and June 2024. Those staff felt maltreated in the exercise have since approached the courts for redress.
When Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo mounted the leadership as Executive Governor of Kogi State on January 27, 2024 (exactly a year today), the signs showed the direction he wanted to go in the governance of the state. Though there seemed to be an early morning stumbling block in the form of legal battle waged by the candidate of the opposition’s Social Democratic Party (SDP), Murtala Ajaka in the contest over who won the November 11, 2023 election, the new governor, elected under the umbrella of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), however did not allow such stumbling block to distract him from focusing his eyes on the ball. Though many outside the state might have regarded him as a greenhorn in politics and leadership, a lot of people who knew his pedigree, having been nurtured quietly by the system, and groomed by the immediate past executive governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, expected the high standard of performance he had exhibited in the last twelve months. One of the first challenges that confronted him, which was widespread across the country, in particular, many parts of the North, was insecurity. It began on May 13, 2024, less than four months after he assumed office, when bandits raided the Confluence University of Science and Technology in Osara, kidnapping several students who were studying for their first-semester exams Unfortunately, two of the kidnapped students, James Michael Anajuwe, a 100-level Information Technology student, and Musa Hussein, a 100-level Software Engineering student, were killed by their abductors despite negotiations with their parents Initially, 21 students were rescued, and later, the remaining eight kidnapped students were also rescued through a joint effort by the Kogi State Government and security agencies. The university declared a three-day mourning period to honor the memory of the two students who lost their lives. Governor Ododo rose to quench the fear that the men of the underworld were trying to inject in the minds of the populace, particularly students,by first, visiting the campus of the institution, and recruiting more security people, including, largely, local hunters. As a matter of fact, since assuming office on January 27, 2024, Governor Ododo has prioritized the safety and security of the citizens as a cornerstone of his administration, for, without security, all other development efforts would result to zero. Under his leadership, and because of the proactive measures he put in place, the State experienced a notable decrease in crime rates. A sense of safety and security were instilled in the populace. Governor Ododo’s approach to enhancing security is comprehensive, involving collaboration with law enforcement agencies, community engagement and the implementation of technology-driven solutions. One of the key achievements of Governor Ododo’s administration is the strengthening of law enforcement agencies within the state. Increased funding and resources have enabled the police force and other security outfits to operate more effectively, enhancing their ability to combat crime. The governor has also advocated for better training for these agencies to further improve their operational capabilities. Governor Ododo’s Community Policing Initiatives have been particularly successful in fostering cooperation between law enforcement and local communities. By establishing neighborhood watch groups and encouraging citizen participation in reporting crimes, the administration has created a safer environment throughout the state. These initiatives have resulted in a noticeable decrease in crime rates in various parts of the State, earning the admiration of the people. The Government Ododo was able to introduce surveillance systems and emergency response applications which have contributed to improve monitoring capabilities across urban areas. They have also allowed for quicker responses to incidents and enhanced overall situational awareness among security personnel. More impressive Ododo’s government has found it necessary and compelling to collaborate with Federal Security Agencies, such as the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services (DSS). Joint operations of such security architecture has led to addressing the menace of kidnapping that plagued various regions within Kogi State before the administration came on board. These collaborations have resulted in successful operations that have disrupted criminal activities within the major flash points in the state. It will be recalled that shortly after the combative efforts through the Governor’s efforts Usman Ododo was glad to receive rescued CUSTECH students and subsequent provided gadgets for trained 1,050 Hunters to Support Security operations in the state is fast breading the desired results. Earlier in his administration, the Governor unveiled new security vehicles, for security operatives in the state. He restated his Government’s commitment to security of all. The Governor also unveiled Metropolitan Quick Response Squad to tackle security challenges in the state. All of these efforts have continued to make Kogi State inhabitable for criminals elements and the state is gradually becoming a safer habitat for peace loving Nigerians and foreigners to be conducting their business activities without any fear of harassment, intimidation, kidnapping or loss of lives and properties. Kogi State is fast becoming the leading safest state in Nigeria. On a general note, just a year down the line, Governor Ododo has been able to demonstrate unparalleled leadership and a deep commitment to the progress and prosperity of the state. His one year in office has been marked by groundbreaking achievements across many sectors of the economy, making him a beacon of hope, a unifying force and the pride of Kogi people. Governor Ododo’s focus, empathy, and unwavering dedication have not only earned him the love and admiration of the people but also cemented his reputation as one of the most impactful governors in Nigeria’s political landscape. From infrastructure development to youth empowerment, and from healthcare to education, his administration has achieved feats that many would have deemed impossible in such a short time. Governor Ododo’s one year in office has been nothing short of transformative. In the agricultural sector, his administration has boosted food security by providing modern farming tools, fertilizers, and support for smallholder farmers, placing the state at the forefront of agricultural productivity. His strides in healthcare are equally commendable, with investments in hospital infrastructure, medical equipment, and community health outreach programs ensuring that no one is left behind. Education has also seen a dramatic improvement under his leadership, with better schools, scholarships for students and training for teachers, creating a solid foundation for the state’s future. Infrastructure development remains one of his hallmarks, with numerous road projects, bridges and rural electrification initiatives improving connectivity and quality of life across the state. Youth empowerment and job creation have been central to his agenda, with innovative programs designed to equip young people with skills, funding, and opportunities to thrive. These initiatives have not only reduced unemployment but also positioned the state as a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship. What sets Governor Ododo apart is his genuine love for the people of the State. His kind-hearted nature, empathy, and ability to listen to the needs of the people have earned him the title of “The People’s Governor.” Whether it is ensuring prompt payment of salaries, addressing community concerns, or swiftly responding to emergencies, Governor Ododo leads with compassion and a sense of purpose. His focused and committed approach to governance is evident in every decision and policy his administration has implemented. With the fear of God as his guiding principle, Governor Ododo has built bridges where there were divides and fostered peace and unity among Kogi’s diverse communities. Governor Ododo’s exceptional leadership has not gone unnoticed by his peers. Among the 21 Progressive Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC), he is held in the highest regard. His strategic role in the successful governorship elections in Edo and Ondo States, which brought victory to the APC, is a testament to his political acumen and ability to deliver positive results. The Progressive Governors have cause, at different fora, to commend Governor Ododo for his exemplary leadership, innovative policies and unwavering dedication to the APC’s vision for Nigeria. His achievements in just one year have set a benchmark for what purposeful governance ought to be. Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has become the pride of Kogi people, a symbol of unity, progress, and hope. His ability to bring together people from all walks of life, his commitment to the welfare of every Kogi citizen and his relentless pursuit of excellence have endeared him to all.
In his recent statement following the renewal of trade negotiations with Germany, British Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer described a political reset not as a reversal of the existing order but as a shift towards improvement in the interest of the people. A political reset, in essence, is an audacious reordering of systems, infusing fresh ideas, vigour, and transformative tendencies. Kogi State’s ranking ahead of major economic hubs such as Lagos, Kano, Rivers, Kaduna, and Oyo in three of the last four years—including 2024—is a clear indicator of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s reset agenda. This agenda builds upon the foundations established by the former Governor, Yahaya Bello’s administration. According to the FATE Institute’s annual State of Entrepreneurship in Nigeria reports (2021-2024), Kogi has consistently ranked among the top five most entrepreneurial states in Nigeria. This accomplishment is unparalleled by any other state or the Federal Capital Territory, noted prominent academics of Kogi origin from the diaspora. Led by Associate Professor Adams Adeiza of MILA University in Malaysia, the professor told LugardTV in an interview that it is evident that Kogi’s leadership—spanning successive administrations over the past nine years—has made it a beacon of entrepreneurship and business development. The state’s rise to the top as one of Nigeria’s most business-friendly destinations is directly linked to an enabling environment that promotes economic growth. Governor Ododo’s leadership is at the forefront of this transformation. His government’s commitment to security and investment-friendly policies has set the stage for Kogi to become a thriving economic hub. At the heart of Kogi’s economic renaissance are two transformative factors: an unwavering commitment to security and the aggressive yet humane leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo. His proactive stance in ensuring that the state is open for business has attracted numerous investors and created a conducive environment for the growth of critical sectors. His role as the state’s chief marketing officer has been instrumental in positioning Kogi as a destination for economic opportunity. Kogi’s reset agenda is being further strengthened by initiatives such as the establishment of the Kogi State Electricity Regulatory Commission, the Kogi State Mineral Resources Development Agency, the Kogi State Commodity Exchange, the Kogi State Anti-Corruption Agency, and the Kogi State Information Technology Development Agency. These agencies, along with the recent approval of the Ministry of Livestock Development, agro-industrial processing zones, the upgrade of the Zariagi airstrip to an international airport, and the establishment of a world-class industrial park, are laying the groundwork for an era of industrialization and commercialization in the state. Governor Ododo’s administration has introduced an array of progressive initiatives, including the mechanization of agriculture in over 70 farm clusters, the construction of over 400 kilometers of roads, and the implementation of a new minimum wage of N72,500 for civil servants. Additionally, nearly half a million civil servants, pensioners, and vulnerable groups have been enrolled in formal sector benefits, including free health insurance coverage. These efforts reflect a strong focus on human capital development, security, and infrastructural growth. The state’s commitment to environmental sustainability is also evident in the ongoing land reclamation efforts and the Agroclimatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape (ACReSAL) initiative, which has empowered over 800 farmers and cooperative groups. Governor Ododo’s administration has abolished the culture of abandoned projects by ensuring the completion of key infrastructural developments, including the 9-kilometer Zone 8-GYB Roundabout road, as well as major upgrades to model secondary schools and the construction of critical public facilities such as the Lokoja International Market, the Audit House, and the Governor’s Conference Center. As the fifth executive governor of Kogi State, Governor Ododo has made significant strides in enhancing the state’s business environment. He has streamlined regulatory processes, reduced bureaucratic bottlenecks, and invested in infrastructure—roads, power, education, healthcare, and digital connectivity—that supports economic activities and ensures the security of lives and property. Entrepreneurs in Kogi are now benefitting from one of the most supportive environments in Nigeria. The state has consistently ranked highly for its innovation and technology adoption, making it a hub for tech-driven enterprises. This is evident in the state’s top ranking for business opportunities and entrepreneurial optimism, placing it ahead of economic powerhouses such as Lagos, Kano, Rivers, and Kaduna. Kogi’s top performance in fostering an entrepreneurial ecosystem has drawn the attention of both local and foreign investors. With its ongoing SME support programmes and an emphasis on sustaining an enabling business environment, Kogi is actively inviting entrepreneurs, investors, and innovators to explore the vast opportunities the state offers. Whether you are a startup founder, a tech entrepreneur, or an investor seeking untapped markets, Kogi welcomes you with open arms. Kogi State’s emergence as a top entrepreneurial destination is no accident. It is the result of visionary leadership, strategic investments, and a steadfast commitment to growth and transformation. As the state continues to build on this solid foundation, it is poised to become the economic powerhouse of North-Central Nigeria. Join us in celebrating Kogi’s remarkable journey—a state where entrepreneurship thrives, opportunities abound, and progress is not just a vision, but a reality.

Shettima, who was special guest at the 2025 Maulud celebration for the late Sheikh Ibrahim Niass, the spiritual leader of the Tijjaniyya sect at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, emphasized the unwavering tenacity of the Tijjaniyya sect to lessons of Prophet Muhammad rather than compromising matters of the jurisprudence of Islam. He reminded Muslims to emulate the true teachings of Islam and avoid extremism. The governor, who flagged-off a body called “Governor Ododo Orphan Students Care (GOOS-Care)” initiative, organized today, January 25, by the Kogi State Forum of Local Government Special Assistants in Lokoja, emphasized his belief that no child in the state should feel abandoned or forgotten as a result of death or financial condition of their parents or guardians. “You are not orphans as far as we have God Almighty,” the governor said, advising the benefiting students to believe in themselves and avoid tendencies to succumb to emotional setbacks. Governor Ododo, who commended the Forum of Local Government Special Assistants for their proactive efforts, described the initiative as a testament to the success of his administration’s policy to take governance to the grassroots. “What you are doing here today shows we never made any mistake in our decisions because this government is for the people.” The Governor emphasized that his administration is focused on collective responsibility in governance, stressing that leaders should prioritize service to the people at all times. He charged the beneficiaries to take the advantage of the programme and make use of the resources provided for them wisely, stressing the need to sustain the programme in order to enhance education and grassroots engagement, describing the initiative as critical tools for fostering collective progress and lasting impact in the state. Earlier, the Chairman of the forum, Jafar Kamarudeen, expressed profound gratitude to Governor for his visionary leadership and commitment to uplifting lives He assured the governor that the programme would be sustained to benefit orphans in the state.
Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has advised Africa to look inward for solutions to its challenges, instead of relying heavily on foreign assistance. He said: “I don’t believe in aid; I believe in partnership. I would rather carry my poverty with dignity and deal with people, nations, and companies on a pedestal of equality, not in a master-servant relationship. I didn’t come with a begging bowl.” Shettima spoke today, January 23, at the Financial Times Global Risk Roundtable at the ongoing 2025 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The Vice President acknowledged the impact of global crises, including conflicts in Ukraine, the Middle East, and Sudan, on supply chains, humanitarian challenges, and peace. He called for multilateral collaboration, stressing that the interconnected nature of global challenges requires collective solutions. “There is an incestuous relationship between economy and ecology in the African continent. But hope springs eternal in the hearts of men. As members of the same human family, we can find solutions to our challenges,” Shettima added. He, however, expressed optimism about the country’s potential to lead Africa’s growth through investments in education, innovation in agriculture, and empowerment of its youth. Shettima noted the importance of harnessing the potential of African youths, who he described as the drivers of global change. “The word for crisis in Chinese is ‘Wei Ji’. Wei stands for danger, while Ji stands for opportunity. “Yes, we have challenges, but those challenges are pregnant with opportunities to re-engineer our society and build back better.” He reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to embracing innovation and empowerment, particularly through education, gender-focused initiatives, and smart agriculture, to propel its economy into the fourth post-industrial revolution.
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has disclosed that the Kuje township reconstruction which contract was awarded to Arab Contractor sometimes ago was not done. The minister, who would not say when the contract was awarded to Arab Contractors, simply said that it was awarded by previous administration. “That road was awarded by the previous administration at the cost of about N59 billion to Arab contractors.” Wike spoke today, January 23, when he officially commissioned the newly reconstructed five kilometer asphalt carriageway from Garage Junction to LEA Secretariat in Kuje Area Council of the FCT. And you say you want this. And government goes ahead to do it.” The Minister also expressed gratitude to the National Assembly for their unwavering support in the development of the FCT, adding that it has enabled the FCT to achieve a remarkable 90% implementation rate for all budgeted projects. “We cannot thank you enough, because anything Mr. President has brought to you as regards the FCT, you have never hesitated. You have always given approval.” Wike also commended the construction company, Gilmor, for the high quality work, even as he praised their corporate social responsibility initiatives and encouraged other companies to follow Gilmor’s example. “I want urge other companies, remove a small percentage of your profit, contribute to the development of the community where you are working. If you add the total value of what the President has committed to Gwagwalada alone, you are talking about over N50b, for one area council. If you now add the six area councils taking that Gwagwalada is the least, you will see that in a year, the President has committed to the development of satellite towns, not less than N300b. “It is important for people to have this record because, you see people will go out and say they are only developing the city, nothing is happening in the Area Councils.” Minister Wike promised to build the Ibwa bridge as requested by the leadership of the Area Council, describing the bridge as very important to the community. The Minister said that the cost will be included in the FCT’s 2025 statutory budget. In their separate goodwill messages, the Vice Chairman Senate Committee on FCT Area Councils and Ancillary Matters, Senator Joel Thomas and the Chairman, House of Representative committees on FCT Area Councils and Ancillary Matters, Fred Agbede, commended the FCT Minister and Minister of State for their dedication to the growth of the FCT, adding that the National Assembly is happy with their performance. Understanding Ododo’s Reset Agenda In Kogi State, By Ismaila Isah
